abs brilliant.

I tried on 2 occasions this week to find out what the tables were running like but they have changed the protocol these days and nobody gets to run their eye over the tourney tables as they used to. Barry Hearn has set up a childrens  charity bonus this week, Betfred are giving the charity 200 quid per century and an extra 15 or 20k if ( I think it is) the total maximums record is beaten.

I imagined they would be keen to set the tables up nicely given it is Hearn's baby but there was no way of finding out, the pockets are looking very easy this year so far. Doherty had a brill chance to make a max in the other afternooin game too.

One firm (ladbrokes I think) are paying out any player who scores a 147 as the tournament winner.

Hope they have to paiiii 3 or 4 times!

The prob for betting over/under centuries is the table will beat you if its playing tough.

66/1+ for Hendry highest break, that must have been a value shout, you dont lose class!

Mostly it was 73.5 although i think one firm went 70.5. Even on good tables that's a pretty high line.

yes, that would be good. I was hoping to see the revised spreads and markets after seeing the tables run  but i guess a max and a good attempt at another will have let the cat out of the bag now.

Sandy

yes, that was the best line Sandy. The problem is they total over the last few years have been

74
60
83
63
46
63
56
53

What could make a huge diff this year tho is the players are playing more snooker than ever before with the PTC events so on the whole are looking sharper. Out of those totals tho its obvious which years the tables ran easy and which ran hard.

What could also be a factor is if Hearn has got the players on board with the charity thing then players like Mark Williams, who usually isnt that bothered about anything other than winning the frame when he gets to 70 odd or so might understand there is an importance to the century from the charity angle.

Thos of course I might be completely second guessing all of that, tho the tables do look to be very sweet for scoring on.

This Hendry bet is reminding me of the time we got inside info Stephen McGuire had broken his cue and woud be playing with a new one. He was top 3 in the world and big fave for the match but we were reliably informed that for a snooker player breaking the cue is similar to breaking an arm and it could take years for him to get back to his best, if ever. Of course he won 5-0.

If I was Hendry I'd fly to China in the break between the 1st and 2nd rounds....

Im being serious here Jeff, I was helping out at the Crucible the year Hendry fractured his arm falling in the shower or summat daft. We opened the shop on , i think it was the middle Friday and every schnoorer and clued up punter at the venue was waiting to bet loads of other players in the outright market.

After about 45mins of laying every player to decent amounts we called a couple of people and found out Steve could barely hold his cue right.

That final was one of the most painful nights of sport watching I have ever had. Hendry came up with an action that he could just about use to get thru his next match and then it got a little better but was still technically winning the world championship with a broken bone in his bridging arm

This afternoon ran it close tho!

I think we should switch the position on the bingham hendry bet.

Was there any reasoning for that Ace or was this another one of your 'ignore me ive been out on the town' posts?

You tipped it as a max bet on Bingham the night before. What's changed your mind?

Or was that an  ' ive been out on the town post' too.

Apologies, forgot i even posted that. Was out on the town, but i was out with some old snooker pals who still play to a pretty high level, one of them knows someone who plays in the same club as bingham, after a phone call it was reckoned that he ain't playing well at all. Someone also pointed out that whenever everyone says Hendry is going to lose, he always wins, he loves sticking it up the doubters.

Any chance you can let us know how wrecked you are when you post Tom?

Or shall we just use a pre 11pm/post 11pm filter on the recommendations?  Wink

I can't decide what's more tilting, putting up max bets with no reasoning, then changing side with no reasoning and then admitting you were even putting up selections that you had forgotten about in the morning.

Now that analysis you have just given might have put a few of backing Bingham but the fact you regularly post things late at night that you have admitted you don't even remember doing really makes your posts worthless.

What is that makes you want to post bets and opinions when you are drunk?

I have a friend that rings me in the middle of the night when he is blindo, in the morning  when I ask him what he thinks he is doing he claims he doesnt even remember ringing me, its funny how when he is drunk he always remembers to ring me, but always forgets about it in the morning.

maybe I am just feeling super rough after a brutal afternoon but I would feel worse knowing people might be having bets on that are plucked out of the air when I was drunk.

As with this snooker game it might look like that but surely we have some responsibility to each other not to use this thread for some random one liners when you have had a pint telling people to have max bets one night and bet the other side the night after?

Not that this has anything to do with me.  But I really like this thread, and is the first thread I go to on Blonde.  So on purely selfish reasons I'd rather it not 'Go home' at all.

The max bet was genuine, i came on to explain it later but you'd already done it. Think i had good intentions of writing it properly last night but writing a big post on a blackberry is too much like hard work so i stopped.

I'll keep it to myself in future.

cheers, gl.
