I have been informed by one or two people privately that there is a very strong tip for Frank Rijkard to be next Liverpool Manager.

He is quoted generally anywhere between 20/1 & 7/1. I believe (my informants kindly tell me) that he was fave, or nearly so, to be Liverpool Manager when Ex King Kenny got the job.

He is currently 17 on Betfair, though I gather he was 34 earlier today.

They let you have the full £2.41 on it? Awesomez.

Tighty, at 8-1 with what you knew, why not a max-bank job here?

Thoughts on Jamie Vardy? We were after him too, but at least we've managed to secure a new kit man (yesterday's website headline!). Up the Posh!

pretty sure there were quotes from heskey when he was linked with leicester last year saying basically he wanted one more season in the big league then he'd sign with them next (this year). Might have hoped they got promoted in the mean time, but still wondering, if we can find out more, if 3/1 isn't still a nice price?

Was thinking that myself......sounds like a 2/1 shot max to me.

Should probably post this on the movie thread but given this is where the basketball fans hang out......I watched a film/documentary yesterday called Hoop Dreams.  It is quite old film from early nineties about two young teenagers who have hopes and dreams of becoming college then NBA stars and have been scouted on the neighbourhood courts in Chicago.  It is really, really good and if you have any interest in the game beg, steal (it is avail on torrent sites) or borrow a copy.

Milly - due to my "ninja-edit" (ooooh) you may have missed this question.....

PS - As a curiosity, do you keep P & L records on the Shit Thread? How do the two threads match up? We should have a handicap start really, we have MANTIS aboard.

I keep a number of spreadsheets updated as to the Nit Thread's P&L/success, and my own bets from the thread too. Put simplistically, of 126 bets we have had 80 winners and 42 losers (some Draw No Bets).

Of those 126 bets I was on 62, with 41 winners and 18 losers.

I have made a total profit of about 400%.

Having sulked about it when the grannies got the 6 spot in the final I am now inclined to think that if any act can win from a bad draw then it could be something like this one.

The reason the high draw is an advantage is that those acts remain fresh in the minds when it comes to awarding points and the ones earlier are forgotten and over taken by the more recent evidence.

The Russian song is deffo not as likely to be forgotten as say a ballad would be and having spoken to someone today that is trading a Eurovision book for a firm he would have been about 7/2 if they had got a good draw. So the song still has every chance and is imo possibly more likely to overcome a bad draw than a 'normal' song.

This was me btw.
My source is a guy who works for a sporting goods company connected to the Ireland football team. He would be personally acquainted with a few Irish internationals and I would assume that this is where this information is coming from. He gave me Steve Staunton when he got the Ireland managers job @ 10/1 but that's obv a bit more connected than this one (no Ireland internationals at Pool at present). Rijkard was fave for the Pool job briefly back when Kenny eventually got it.

Not nailed on by any means but I told Tikay to have a small bet.
I was going to have 100 euros on it (which is a big bet for me) @ 20/1 with Bet365 but they restricted me to 30 euros. The only brick and mortar bookies around me are PP (10/1), Boyles (7/1) and Laddies (10/1) so I haven't topped up. Still available at a few place for 20/1 and 21/1 on Betfair.
