Angus Hill, Barry Beasley and Ken Post were the ones I remember Chompy.

I think Mr B Fair does everyone's job now.

Must be manna from heaven for you Neil.

Most firms taking win only prices from BF and letting you bet each way at way out of date place terms.Never had it so good surely?

Passato hadn't run on the Flat for about four years.

Since then he's improved about three stone over hurdles/fences and is now rated in the mid 130s.

He ran on the Flat off just 49 today.

It's generally agreed that knocking about 35lb off NH ratings gives a Flat equivalent.

In that case he was about 50lb well in today. It's not always that clear-cut though obv.

So Hurricane Fly would beat Frankel by a length or two if they met - wonder what all the fuss is about!

Mumbai Indians were well beaten by Chennai after another batting capitulation.
Sorry tikay, the big players just didn't perform enough when it mattered.

The coup.

It was 3.30am, and in the bat cave Mere Novice was sleeping. He liked to call it the bat cave but in reality it was more of a grotto, and a pretty grotty one at that. Every corner of the flat, including the walls, was covered with spreadsheets. In the corner was the centre of his universe, the TV linked to the enormous satellite outside enabling him to watch any sports event being screened anywhere in the world. The phone started to ring. Picking it up there was no need to ask who it was, as  like most nonagenarians Tikay was in bed by 6.30pm most nights so by 2.30am he was invariably up and ready to seize the day.

" Novice. Grab your gear I'll pick you up in 20. There's a coup going on and we are in on it."

Silence abounds at that time of the morning and 20 minutes later, as the BMW smoothly pulled up outside, Novice could hear the dulcet tones of Radio 2 from within the confines of the car. The song being played was "The way to Amarillo" and Tikay was in full voice " Every night I'll be hugging my pillow".  Novice took his place in the passenger seat and they began their journey.

" Sha la la la la la la la la " with Tikay beeping the horn on the last 2 beats.

After the song ended Tikay started to talk of the plan. " You know that muppet Hector62 chappy? The idiot that always recommends betting on draws in rugby matches. It turns out that he is actually a betting genius. I thought that 62 was his IQ. Well he should add a 1 in front of it. Got us a 14-1 winner last week and now he has given us a dead cert 50-1 winner for this weekend. So I have put the lot on 3G at Wentworth and we are going down to support him. I even convinced Dubai to  take his slippers to cash converters and put that money on him too. It's going to be a hoot."

The car cruised sedately along the M3,Tikay still rambling on about his plans, the monotony only broken as they went under each bridge as Tikay would raise his camera and take a photo of them through the sunroof.

" That's another one for the diary, Novice" he said   "really good example of scaling there. Tom will love it."

When the D J introduced the next song, "Shout" by Lulu, Tikay turned the volume up. Took an enormous breath and then hit it

" Weeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll " he began.

In the next seat Novice slept on soundly, as he had been from the moment the car had turned out of his road.

The phrase we use, when referring to "popping" caused by the combination of inadequate concrete cover, & oxidation, causing the rebar to be visible in concrete structutes, is "grinning".

Jeeves would NEVER make that mistake.

Daily Update as @ 11am, Thursday 24th May

LOSS on month =  £198.92

Unsettled Bets = £596

EDIT - Just realised, those numbers are 24 hours out of date, I am up north, & on a different computer today, & so cannot Edit the Sheet with updates results as I can't remember my log-in & Password.

Perhaps Mere can update the sheet, & I will re-post later, or he will Post the latest position in his fluffy & pedantic prose.

Daily Summary as @ 11am, Thursday 24th May

Another quiet day yesterday, time of year I guess, but as long as we are not betting for the sake of it, or losing serious sums, a few quiet days does no harm.

We threw a tenner at a Spanish Football Match which was at a silly price, & we got DNB too. We led 1-0 early, then the other lot had a player sent off, how can we lose this coup? We lost 4-1.

Our Mumbai Indians adventure came to an unhappy ending, bit odd really, as Mumbai were twice in dominant position, but it slipped away, & we were well turned over in the end. We only had £25 @ 9/2, & have had months of interest from the bet, so no regrets here, & Matt’s apology is not needed. Find us another IPL bet, & we’ll dance again.

We threw £10 at “Next Liverpool Manager” at 20/1. As long as we are not miles behind in P & L, these are good fun, do no harm, & now and then we’ll have a little bink.

A Maximum bet on Audley Harrison sounds an unlikely & dangerous thing to do, but we trust Bazza, he says the price should be much tighter, so we are on, £150 @ 8/15, Saturday night it is.

That was it, I believe.
