Mere Fred

I'll be in Vegas for the next month, starting now, & don't really know if I can or will be online enough, or at the right times, to look after Fred.

So, Mere has very kindly agreed to look after the shop in my absence.

He will use his discretion as to what to, or not, place, & he'll decide how much, exactly replicating my duties, except that he'll do it better. He'll be stricter, too, 'cos he's like that. Wink

He will use his own accounts to place the bets, & he & I will keep an account, & settle up, either way, weekly, so given he is using my money, I imagine he will err on the side of caution.

I'm sure I'll be online a goodly bit, & he & I will be in regular contact, but this seems to make more sense.

Knowing how efficiently Mere runs the various Fantasy Leagues, he'll do a far better job than I ever could.

See you soon, & lets try & make a few bob.......

It was announced as a TD but as 4 rounds hadn't been completed it should have been a no contest. It was a British Title fight and we have ficked up rules so we could have been screwed here!! sick.

I get this feeling too and my bet has been settled as a loss on Betfair too.

Looks like the following applies which is a nonsense

Accidental Fouls

1.   If an accidental foul causes an injury severe enough for the referee to stop the bout immediately, the bout will result in a TECHNICAL DRAW if stopped before four (4) completed rounds.  Four (4) rounds are complete when the bell rings signifying the end of the fourth round.

In America and in any world title fight it is declared a no contest if 4 rounds haven't been completed which seems fair to me, after that they go to the cards.  Well done to those who backed the draw I guess.

Sigh

Interesting view on Betfair forum that as fight was for WBA interim title and the WBA don't have a technical draw in their rules it should have been declared no contest.  What a farce.

It's boxing.  It's bound to be a farce.

There was a comedy moment though, when the Greek chap feigned a serious ankle injury to kill time, the ref sussed it & made him go off on the stretcher, & as soon as the stretcher reached the touchline, the lad jumped straight off, right as rein.

Something really need to be done about all that nonsense, it brings no credit to anyone.
I was in the pub and his captain and goal scorer had just been subbed. He squirted his water bottle into the face of the stretchered guy and gave him a bollocking according to the greek lad I stood next to. The Greek captain showed a lot of passion tonight again but I think he misses the next game by all accounts.

Just turned on the US Open and first shot I saw was some nobody making a hole in one. Was it last week we were funking against these or this?

Think the US Open is becoming quite interesting.  Be interested in others opinions (especially bobby1) but I can't see anyone currently higher than +2 winning it ( would have probably stretched that to +3 but at the moment they aren't a bunch of players I think could pick up shots on those in front).  Westwood is currently the leader in the clubhouse and whilst Furyk should be able to stay ahead of him backing the world number 3 at 15/2 each way whe he could quite easily be a shot or two off the lead seems very fair to me.  Not sure the odds compilers are factoring in enough how tough this course is.

Jacobsen finished his round at +1 as I was typing that post but the logic remains.

Really struggled to get that on, Sandy, that site is so yukky, but I eventually got £50 @ Evens, over 13.5.

ON

As above, £50 @ Evens, over 13.5 corners, Greece - Russia, Betfred.

Decided just to bet £50, this match just has a bad feel somehow, and I'd be well cross with myself if we dropped more than £150 on it after the thread got back to level yesterday.

Fingers crossed!

I hate to be negative on this thread all the time but you really have to stop thinking like this Tikay.  Firstly, how you are running and recent results should absolutely not affect how you are betting today.  It is like not 3 betting Kings because an ace always comes on the flop.  Every bet should be assessed on its own merits.  Secondly, this bet isn't correlated to the other bet you had on this game so you don't have to worry about how much you have at stake really.  It would be different if Sandy's rec had been a bet on the draw or a press on Russia but this was just a rick by the odds compiler and, believe me when I tell you, Fred won't take that for long so make hay whilst the sun shines because it won't be long before you look at his prices like a kid staring into a candy shop with child locks on the door.

Leader board at the end of the 3rd round of the US Open:

Pos   Player   Total     Odds   Amount  Lay
T1   G. McDowell   -1    80/1   £5 e.w   3.95
T1   J. Furyk   -1   33/1   £5   4.1
3   F. Jacobson   1
T4   L. Westwood   2
T4   E. Els   2
T4   B. Adams   2
T4   N. Colsaerts   2   219/1   £5   23
T8   W. Simpson   3
T8   K. Chappell   3
T8   J. Senden   3
T8   B. Hossler   3
T8   J. Dufner   3
T8   J. Peterson   3
T14   R. Goosen   4
T14   M. Kaymer   4
T14   M. Kuchar   4   28/1 £10   75
T14   T. Woods   4   10/1   £25   18.5
T18   P. Harrington   5   80/1   £10  340
T18   J. Rose   5   28/1   £10   250
T32    N.Watney     7    139/1   £5    n/a

The highlighted players are all the players that Fred has money on in the tournament winner market.

That's a quite remarkable position at this stage.
Nut result would be 3G winning with McDowell placing.
I think that we can look forward to a decent sweat tomorrow.

The second boxing match doesn't appear to be going well for us. Chambers was doing well but appears to have hurt his left arm from the reports that I'm reading.
