I have been doing some underground work regarding the CRESWELL bet and having spoken to 2 players one to get intouch with a current Southend player I can confirm that Cresswell will NOT be playing up front but will be playing centre half, although they did say he is a strength at set pieces so the anytime option is viable.

Daily Report as @ 0955, Saturday September 1st

We ended August with a winning day, £45 profit, nicely bringing an end to one of our best months ever, with a profit of over £700.

Our profit yesterday was small, but I'll take that every day, dripping taps soon fill baths, if we could nick £45 every day we'd be very happy.

It was also one of the most enjoyable days we have had here, with lots of tales told, but the highlight was horsey's remarkable bet on Falcoa's hat trick. I doubt a single soul except horsey was on the hat-trick, but all sorts of peeps, including non-regulars, were on thread within minutes congratulating him - perfectly lovely. Genuine warmth & no dissers on a poker forum, wtf? We turned the clock back 30 years yesterday.

So, back to the detail.

Only two bets completed yesterday, one winner, one loser.

The winner was from horsey, who gave us the remarkable Falcoa bet, profit (£25 @ 11/5) was £55. We never even got a sweat, as AndrewT pointed out, the bet was over within 6 minutes!

Our loser was Pettersen, to be 1st round leader in the Deutsche Bank thing, which cost us £10. Oddly, we have a bet on the guy who ended up leading, but for him to be Top Korean. That bet remains very much alive, so no complaints.

Despite 10 pages on the thread, we never actually placed one new bet yesterday. We even swerved the England - South Africa ODI, which England, suprisingly, won.

In running bets, or should that be in cycling bets, the position remains unchanged I think, we lead Contador & Froome by 13 & 51 seconds respectively.

Currently, Contador is 4/7, Froome 14/1, & our man 7/4. We have £10 @ 14/1 for Rodriguez, so we have a cracking price.

http://www.lavuelta.com/

http://www.oddschecker.com/other-sports/cycling/vuelta-a-espana/winner

In Golf, we have half a dozen positions running, though all for sensible stakes.

In the Omega, we are on Brandon Grace @ 50/1, £10 EW. He seems to be out with the washing at present, but you never know, & the bet remains live. 50/1 shots don't need to bink very often.

In the Deutsche Bank, we have 3 outrights, Bubba, Snedeker, & Dufner. Dufner (£5 @ 20/1) is right in the mix @ 4 under, Snedeker (£5 @ 25/1) @ -2, & Bubba, who had a mare, is as good as out, though until he misses the cut, the bet has to stay on the sheet, so we'll start September with a £5 loser. Wink

The golf highlight though was our "Top Korean" (£32 @ 15/8), where we are on Dr Noh. He leads the field after an astonishing 62 (9 under!). The bet is for him to best Wi (level par), Choi (1 under), & Sang-Moon (2 under), so we are SEVEN shots clear at present, with three days to go. We have a terrific bet, & sweat. The Bookies have closed the book. Which we like.

In F1, (Raikkonen @ 5/1) first practice yesterday was meaningless, as it was punctuated by heavy rain. Qualifying is today.

The day belonged to horsey though, he's run pretty bad here, but kept plugging away, & everyone is well pleased for him. Quite right too.

In the Vuelta today. A key stage, the first day in the high mountains.

All our man has to do is shadow Contador. Good luck him

What's coming up?

The Cycling & Golf continue, bla bla.

We have some Rugby Union action, Connacht v Cardiff, £40 @ 11/8.

I'm not sure what has happened, but we have £40 @ 11/8 for Connacht, but they are now odds on almost everywhere, as low as 4/6 in places! Whatever happens, a wonderful spot by "Rubbish", well done Sir.

http://www.oddschecker.com/rugby-union/club-rugby/rabodirect-pro-12/connacht-v-cardiff-blues/winner

In Football, despite tons of talk, all we have so far is Ryan Cresswell, for Southend, to be first gs (£20 @ 25/1) & anytime gs (£20 @ 17/2). Eso Kral has gone underground & tells us that Cresswell will be playing as a centre half, so we might be sunk, but too late now, & you never know, we have a decent banzai to sweat.

I'll bump the "Reminder" thread shortly for the football bets put up by various, but in truth, if there is not a clear standout bet, then we wont bet, we don't need to bet for the sake of it, we can save our ammo for better spots.

F1 qualifying starts at Midday.

Thanks thats it.

There will be a "Monthly" Report for August in due course, Mere is working on it as we speak. Here's an abbreviated one, to everyone, with thanks.

I wanted to save my first ever picture post for something worthy. So for services above and beyond I would like to award Tonji this.

There have been many other worthy tips on this thread but for me this one has shown a wonderful knowledge of a sport along with superb updates. Not only that but he tipped a man at 14-1 who is now down to 7/4 and has even told us how each day will unfold. It has caught my interest enough to watch the evening highlights on ITV4.

In case you are of an age that doesn't know who the dog is, it is Muttley and you can catch him on youtube in Wacky races, or Stop the Pigeon where his penchant for medals came to the fore. Enjoy.

Nice one hector, lovely sentiment.

You are right, too, what a great sweat for a tenner, & we get daily reports fom Tonji &/or Longy. Perfect bet for us.

My favourite Fred bet ever was actually a loser - Barnet to be relegated - but we had some tremendous fun. Same with this one, win or lose, job to get more fun & value for a tenner than this.

Well done on getting the photo uploading sorted. herbie is still trying, x-teen thousand posts in.....

Well done on Dr Noh, too, oooooh.

Reminder - these football bets are still "for consideration", & I'll add a few more shortly.

Remember, unless we think we have a clear edge, or ourstanding value, in that we are better than the quoted price, we don't need to bet. There'll be plenty more Saturdays.

A banzi or two is all we need if we just want to have some fun, & tick over.

Mr Mere.

I think my request will be too much of a pain but maybe your spreadsheet can more easily do it than my calculator. Someone made a comment the other day about bet sizing and how they felt they should be bigger. As a self proclaimed nit and definitely one of the smallest bet sizers I was interested in this. I decided to see how we would have done if all the bets were for £100. I managed to do it for the first month and was shocked by the result, and by how long it took me to do.

If anyone is interested then for the month of February where we made a profit of £120, if all bets had been £100 then we would have lost over £1,700. Do not worry if it would take you too long as life is too short etc.
