If you want to back the teams which are not on the bonus coupon then the ordinary BTS

Betfred coupon offers 7-2 for 3 teams but again feel there is no edge in it for the punter.

It equates to 3 4-6 shots roughly.

Paddy Power look like they have the best odds on championship games over 2.5 goals

which is another angle to look at.

West Brom are out to 15/8 best tonight v Liverpool

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-cup/west-brom-v-liverpool/winner

The Opta Stats for the fixture are as follows

This is the second meeting at The Hawthorns between the sides this season; the Baggies won 3-0 on the opening day of the Premier League.
West Brom have defeated Liverpool in three of their last four clashes, with the Reds picking up the win just once.
This fixture has failed to produce a draw since 1984, with a positive result occurring in the last 17 meetings between the sides (in all competitions).
Liverpool have won four matches from five (D1) in Europe this season, but are yet to taste victory in the Premier League ( L3).
On the contrary, the Baggies have lost just once this season and have won all of their home games to date.

Of course team news is crucial, and both teams look to rest players and have injury difficulties

from a local newspaper

Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers is set to make changes as the Reds begin their League Cup defence at West Brom on Wednesday night.

Defenders Martin Kelly and Daniel Agger (both knee) were injured in Liverpool FC's defeat to Manchester United on Sunday and have been ruled out - the former for several months - while forward Fabio Borini is unlikely to be risked after sustaining an ankle problem.

Brad Jones will replace Jose Reina in goal while some other fringe players will be given a chance.

Midfielder James Morrison is West Brom's main new injury concern ahead of the third-round match.

The Scotland international suffered a hamstring injury during the weekend win over Reading and is rated "doubtful" by Baggies assistant head coach Keith Downing.

Striker Peter Odemwingie (suspended) and winger Jerome Thomas (knee) are again ruled out and Downing admitted several players had knocks which will be assessed before the side is finalised.

Liverpool FC: Jones, Wisdom, Carragher, Coates, Wilson, Enrique, Shelvey, Sahin, Henderson, Downing, Yesil, Morgan, Gulacsi, Robinson, Coady, Suso, Sterling, Pacheco, Assaidi, Johnson, Skrtel, Allen, Gerrard, Suarez, Sterling.

West Brom: Foster, Myhill, Jones, Jara-Reyes, Dawson, Tamas, Hurst, Olsson, McAuley, Ridgewell, Thorne, El Ghanassy, Allan, Dorrans, Yacob, Mulumbu, Morrison, Brunt, Gera, Fortune, Long, Rosenberg, Lukaku, Berahino

A suggested team from the This is Anfield forum is as follows

http://www.thisisanfield.com/2012/09/west-brom-v-liverpool-league-cup-preview/

Reina; Wisdom, Coates, Skrtel, Enrique; Sahin, Henderson, Suso; Pacheco, Morgan, Assaidi.

Another article suggests the following teams

West Bromwich Albion (4-4-2): Myhill; Tamas, Dawson, Olsson, Ridgewell; Gera, Mulumbu, Yacob, Brunt; Long, Lukaku

Liverpool: (4-3-3): Jones; Wisdom, Carragher, Coates, Enrique; Sahin, Henderson, Suso; Downing, Morgan, Assaidi

and comments

Martin Kelly is not expected to play again this year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament rupture on his right knee against Manchester United over the weekend, while Daniel Agger and Fabio Borini - who were also forced off in that game - are expected to spend time on the sidelines as well. Young wing-back Jon Flanagan remains a doubt for this clash, while Jonjo Shelvey will serve the first of his three-match ban after seeing a straight red against the Red Devils. Captain Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson and Joe Allen are also likely to be rested for this League Cup clash.

Unless I am missing something obvious I simply cannot have West Brom 15/8 to win this

Recommend £40 15/8 West Brom tonight BoyleSports

Anyone else think 80/1 spurs for the title is pretty massive?  1/3 1-2.

I love their team this year, not quite be at full speed yet but they are playing better together every game.

wagon shunter=punter. It's derogatory in this context, suggesting that the punter is merely guessing and has no expert knowledge.

I read back what I wrote this morning. I was getting a bit tired when I typed the last bits. I may not have made perfect sense.

In essence I am saying that by definition we can't win if the bookmaker successfully puts up a line that splits the result. Our job as punters is to identify occasions where they deviate towards splitting the money. They may do this deliberately as they are busy charging the wagons a bad price and nobody is playing on the +ev side of the wager. They may do this to "green-up". They are nervous bean counters and they know they are "pissing away equity" but they aren't comfortable with risk. They may do this because they have no knowledge of the "true price" (one that splits the result) in this intance.

In these liquid and massive markets that some people would say are unbeatable, these are the weaknesses which we can and must identify.

In US sports there is a really easy way to identify when a market move has been made by sharp guys or not especially in the NFL.  If you compare the odds of SportsInteraction.com and Pinnacle.  Sports Interaction take only mugs and shade their line to get the absolute maximum out of them.  Pinnacle are effectively the clearing house for the market and take on any punter, never shut accounts, have huge limits and offer smaller margins all that attract the sharp guys.  On Monday night football at one point Pinnacle were Green bay -3 10/11 whilst Sports Interaction were -3.5 5/6.  That is a huge, huge difference but they do this because they know 80%+ of their customers were going to bet on the favourites so they are getting better value themselves.  They are not doing it, as in Neils example, to try and get money on Seattle and if you went in there and bet these dogs regularly they would soon shut your account so they knwo they offer good value on the dogs but they are happy to gamble with the wagons because they know they are giving them so much the worst of it.

Incred analysis by Tighty, but lacks a Weather Report (last 20 years rainfall) or news about who was the Stadium Architect, ground capacity, etc.

Slack work, or "did a Chompy" as the trade always says.

It's not analysis, really, on this occasion

Just some research for an hour into who might play

I'm only a keen ice cream but I price it as equally likely that WBA win as Liverpool do

Just cannot see Liverpool 6/4 and WBA nearly 2-1, with 5/2 the draw. I'd have that if it was at Anfield, but at the Hawthorns?

(Do you know why its called the Hawthorns? Its WBA's sixth ground and when the land was bought in 1911 ahead of the ground opening in 1913, it was covered in Hawthorn bushes, and were a bugger to clear)

Picture10 - is Trevor Francis really wearing silver loafers matched with a light grey suit and turqoise socks?  Or is it the light?
