England might pick the right team

They might win the toss

but...

I still think if that happens England might get rolled over for sub 350 and India then get 500, so England winning the toss is not a panacea of all their sub-continent ills if they don't bat well

I concur entirely.

Now is the time to bet, if a bet is appropriate at all.

Yup, that was was what I was driving at.

We just need some recommends now.

As far as I am aware, the bookies have not put up prices for the 2nd Test yet.

Stop this right now.  The market hasnt even formed yet, and we don't just pile in to India regardless of the price.

We should all learn from Hector and just sit down and enjoy our cake.

I did say if a bet is appropriate at all; in other words, if the price is right.

No point in betting if the price is against us.

I was thinking of the cake eating Hector and not the other Hector that appeared to put on a bet just for a sweat last night.

Now is the perfect time to put our learnings into effect, with no prices available to cloud our judgement. Panasear will play but will that  affect  things very much? Get a slice of cake and ponder what odds you would back England and India for the match. Then as soon as the prices come up see if your price is available.

So who is going to put their desired price up first ? Over to you Mr T.

India are far more likely to be overrated in the market than underrated. Unless ladbrokes lost tv and Internet signal for the last 5 days

Dear Mr. Kendall

A bet you have placed on  M Van Gerwen v  R Van Barneveld  in Grand Slam Of Darts has been incorrectly input as 9/4 The correct price for this selection at the time of bet placement was actually 1/3 . Your bet has been amended as per our terms and conditions to the correct price.  However, if you wish to cancel your bet, please let me know before the event starts otherwise the bet will stand at the correct price.

I apologise for any inconvenience.

Quality rub, by any standards, given that the bet lost. Wink

PS - They sent it at 6.40pm, BEFORE the Event, so no complaints here.

Given I put up the first test bet, I'll go first. In the first test I thought 13/8 was a very good price and was relaxed about 11/8.  I haven't seen anything that will make me change that view.  The Betfair market seems to be settling about 11/10.  At this price I'd be leaning more towards England.  I assume we are going to get 11/2 or 6/1. These look like decent prices given there isn't that much between the sides.

I think there is probably plenty between the sides

Before the start I postulated that India were a true 4/5 for every Test, and thus 20-1 for 4-0 was attractive

India 11/10 wouldn't give enough to go at though

Why is there plenty between the sides?

England's technique against spin, in five of the top seven in the order
Balance of England's team/doubts about selection
I rate Ojha as the best of the four spinners likely to be on view

Last winter in the UAE England did improve against spin, but by then they were 2-0 down in the tests

A banzai on England apart for value if they are 5-1+ (which then comes in if they win the toss and provides trading opportunities), I can't see much that attracts me at the moments
