Why the avatar and sig if you don't mind me asking?
Made a post comparing poker players to footballers
Jake Cody = Messi
Sam Trickett = Ronaldo
Tikay = Chopper Harris
etc etc
Likened myself to Jason Euell. Used to play in the top flight and had a few decent moments in his early career, but now plying his trade in the lower leagues.
Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up! I believe he has retired now though...
It could be worse, I think Chopper Harris is dead.
Struggling to see the comparision there. Ron is not gifted with Adonis-style looks, hardly known for his fine skills, & had a bad reputation amongst those who plied his trade. Hmm.....
But dead? I hope not!
I had the pleasure of meeting him quite recently, he is not at all how I had imagined. Polite, self-deprecating, deferential, meek almost.
PS - He is the short one.

I met Chopper a few years ago as he was the guest on An Audience with Jimmy Greaves, tickets to which I had got my dad for his birthday.
For a cheslea rovers foul-merchant, he was alright.
He was no Jimmy tho.

It was fine when we weren't in the top flight.
But Loftus Road is so cramped, and they used to shoehorn people in when it was a full house in the top flight. Probably 3 or 4 thousand too many. It
The atmosphere at Loftus Rd is no worse now it's all seater, that's for sure.
Some of the big grounds, maybe your right. They do get a bit soulless. But Loftus Road at least, all seats are better imo.
I actually think Loftus Road is one of the few grounds that is still as good as it once was and hasnt actually changed that much over the years. There are still a fair few in the lower leagues too. One of the main reasons I came back last week was because Boro were playing at Posh and it is one of the few places that i still love going every year because I can stand up. Literally the only experiences at the Riverside that have even begun to compare to regular occasions at Ayresome Park were our two UEFA Cup comebacks and even then it felt like it would have been better at the old ground even though it could never have happened then.

You ought to get yourself down to the Amex.
It is understandable the early "new" stadiums don't quite work. They were starting from scratch with no blueprint of what works and what doesn't. Hence the grounds at Boro, Darlington, Derby, Hull are a bit soulless.
But Brighton's definitely does. Comfortable, great view and superb atmosphere.

Yeah agree actually. I have only been there once and it was in the honeymoon period but it definitely worked and was a very enjoyable day out. Conversely on the handful of occasions I went to the Goldstone I found it wasn't great but that was in the period when they were on their way down.

My glasses fell off during a surge at Loftus Road and were trampled and broken before I could recover them.
Get back to studying for next years Fantasy NFL.
God knows you need every minute you can spare.
Don't make me root for that hustler Jek!!!
I think standing is far superior to sitting. Away games with Leeds (I've never sat down at one) are brilliant. Home games are dull at times.
Football (outside the premiership especially) is in a rut at the moment for me. Its hardly been mentioned in the media for some reason but there are dramatically falling attendances everywhere in the championship. Surely the soulless and quiet atmosphere/experience in these grounds is playing a massive part in this.
It must have been better to go to matches back in the day with all your mates, standing up shouting yourself hoarse for 90 minutes solid on the terraces, bit of aggro, bit of banter rather than now, just paying your £30 and sitting there in silence.
from 87-92 it was amazing following leeds, home games standing in the lowfield road stand should have had a health warning, then after that virtually the only decent games where away..Shame really.

I think you should only allow pics of king Kap in uniform Tony. Those tat ones make him look like he should be sitting on a park bench swearing at old ladies and sharing a bottle of hooch with Raul Meireles.
