I must be the only football supporter who prefers all seaters!
On terraces:
Had piss poured on QPR supporters by Tottenham fans at Wembley.
My glasses fell off during a surge at Loftus Road and were trampled and broken before I could recover them.
A Leeds an went ballistic in the QPR end smashing the shit out anyone near him. Took nearly 5 minutes for police to get near to him to drag him out.
Pocket picked at Highbury.
Portsmouth fans invaded the Loft during a cup tie. Scared the shit out of me.
In seats:
Enjoyed watching football.
I think it's absolute myth that atmosphere was better on terraces.
The best atmosphere at a sporting event I've ever been at was the Olympics. No one standing there.

The grounds we have these days can NEVER replace the old ones. I realise that the older you get nothing will replace the experiences of your youth but I just dont see how it can ever be as exciting (and on occasions frightening) for the kids of today to get themselves on the train and travel to the Walker Stadium, the New Den, The Riverside, Stadium of Light and Reebok as it was for me to go to Filbert Street, The Den, Ayresome Park, Roker park and Burnden Park. It has always been an ambition of mine to get to all 92 league grounds but now I have lost the passion for it I once had. I missed a couple of opportunities to go to the old Baseball Ground and really regretted it but I cant get any enthusiasm up to go to Pride Park because I have been to all the others that look exactly the same. Even the old grounds aren't what they used to be. For a number of years I used to go to Ewood every year to watch the
Boro
and for evening games especially in the cold it just was a wonderful ground to go to. When I started going again recently to watch my nephew it had lost almost all of that atmosphere. Maybe it is just our changing society but I cant help thinking I preferred decaying terraces, bovril and maybe even the slight menace and hint of violence at some grounds. I grew up on the terraces and I can't imagine any kids or teenagers these days saying they grew up and learnt a lot about themselves at the Reebok or even in the Kop or Streford Ends of today.
Even someone as young as myself can remember Doncaster's ground with many happy memories. I remember getting seating first time at Belle Vue, we won 5-1 with my favourite player at the time Ian Durden scoring a hat trick. Is it just a difference in culture that is preventing the FA from introducing a similar standing model as I believe the Germans at least trialled. Standing would be fantastic.
Boro? Teesider? I only just found out The Camel lives/is from the area! More news perhaps.

Don't make me root for that hustler Jek!!!
I think standing is far superior to sitting. Away games with Leeds (I've never sat down at one) are brilliant. Home games are dull at times.
Football (outside the premiership especially) is in a rut at the moment for me. Its hardly been mentioned in the media for some reason but there are dramatically falling attendances everywhere in the championship. Surely the soulless and quiet atmosphere/experience in these grounds is playing a massive part in this.
It must have been better to go to matches back in the day with all your mates, standing up shouting yourself hoarse for 90 minutes solid on the terraces, bit of aggro, bit of banter rather than now, just paying your £30 and sitting there in silence.

There's two Cardiff fans in my local, one has seen Cardiff in every ground other than Old Trafford and the other has seen them in every ground other than Goodison.
Both have seen Wales play in these two grounds so they have been to all League grounds other than any of the new league clubs that Cardiff have yet to play.
I'm guessing following Cardiff has cost them six figures since the 1970's.

Why the avatar and sig if you don't mind me asking?
Made a post comparing poker players to footballers
Jake Cody = Messi
Sam Trickett = Ronaldo
Tikay = Chopper Harris
etc etc
Likened myself to Jason Euell. Used to play in the top flight and had a few decent moments in his early career, but now plying his trade in the lower leagues.

It could be worse, I think Chopper Harris is dead.

It was fine when we weren't in the top flight.
But Loftus Road is so cramped, and they used to shoehorn people in when it was a full house in the top flight. Probably 3 or 4 thousand too many. It
The atmosphere at Loftus Rd is no worse now it's all seater, that's for sure.
Some of the big grounds, maybe your right. They do get a bit soulless. But Loftus Road at least, all seats are better imo.

Can't see many of my fellow bradford city fans getting nostalgic for delapidated wooden stands.
