MASTERS SNOOKER 2013

i would recommend a small wager on Shaun Murphy (available at 10s).  been very consistent in Televised events recently.  Trump far too short at 7/2.

Smurph is 11's in places, but Coral refund up to £100 if Trump wins, he's 10's there.

He also struggled in some short best of 5 Championship League snooker yesterday and said on twitter ''I'm useless off camera'', or to that effect.

totally agree - was talking to him at last years event - doesnt take the non televised events seriously - only looking to concentatre on the big 3-4 events

The two legged nature of tonight's game must be a negative against Villa though.  No thoughts of trying to avoid a replay or extra time.  If they are level with 20 mins to go I don't expect them to force the pace knowing they can go back to Villa park (and indeed MUST go back to Villa park whatever happens).

I think this is the reason for the at first glance generous opening price on Villa?  That said 3-0 after 60 mins wouldn't surprise me either.

Thanks for the 2 suggestions, & welcome aboard, I don't recall seeing you on here before. I obv recall you busting Chompy's ample arse at Luton plenty of times, though.

I'll need to see what our resident snooker blokes say about those suggestions, but thank you anyway.

For those interested, here is the Masters Snooker Oddschecker page.....

On the other foot, I would not like to go back to Villa Park with no away goal or be in fear of bradford getting an away goal.

Think Villa will be all out for victory tonight.

If it is level, surely we would expect Bradford to start throwing players forward trying to nick a goal.

If so, a Premier League team should be lethal on the break.

I'm not sure Keith.  We have to assume the biggest fear from Bradford is that they have their big night out at Villa Park and there is nothing to play for as Villa are out of sight already?

I think if you offered Bradford 0-0 at Valley Parade right now they would take it.

Ruholding! I remember you! You're the fella what stopped me backing Van Persie for top Prem scorer @ 16/1 last season isn't it?

Rylan now 5/4 biggest. Mid-afternoon contraction normally means a good show is imminent that evening in my experience. Predicted ETA into Oddsonville = some time tomorrow.

Murphy at 11-1 doesn seem generous?  He was excellent in the UK in the game I watched when he beat my man Carter.  Think he needed to win 5 frames on the bounce to make the comeback and Carter hardly had a sniff.

I can't work out a sum to have on Villa here.

Keith, thought the 2-1 was value as if Villa win or score, Benteke usually has a hand in the goal or usually scored it. If there are no thoughts on this being a good bet/value, then I am off this bet.

James Tredwell is 6/1 to be top England bowler for the upcoming series - http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/india-v-england/odi-series/india-england-odis/top-england-bowler

Way over priced in my opinion given he will be England's main spinner.  Finn is favourite, as he should be, and Dernbach bowls at the death so is likely to pick up a few cheap wickets.   Aside from those 2, he is the next most likely to pick up wickets given Swann's absence.  He's not going to rip through India's batting lineup but is a steady bowler who builds pressure to get wickets and has looked pretty good in the warm up games.  He hasn't had many chances for England, with just 7 ODIs in the last 2 years but he always does a job when he comes in the team (11 wickets in those 7 games at an average of ~23 shows that).

Bell has cemented his place opening the innings and given his form in the 2 warm up matches, 7/2 is worth considering as top England batsman

I thought Tighty would be the one to propose Bell but whoever it is I agree with it.

Master Benjamin, 2.50 Doncaster tomorrow, looks a nice each-way job @ 11-2 with Badblokes. There are 19 in at the moment, so you'd be unlucky not to have four places.

Like Nick Scholfield as a jockey but thought he overdid it on bad ground early last week.

Has anyone read Patrick Veitch's 'Enemy Number One'? Halfway through it at the moment and it's top banana so far.

Yes.

Great read, thoroughly enjoyed it, but doesn't Veitch come across as a horrible person?

Sort of bloke who spends half an hour looking at himself lovingly in the mirror every morning.

Ok so Villa are about evens.

On betfair you can get about 6-4 on Benteke to score at anytime.

That's a 4-1 shot in a double.

However, even if both prices were available at the same bookie you couldn't do it as a double like this due to it being a related-contingency. It's handy though to use the 'true odds' when working out if such a special double is value.

Now like I say we'd never get 4-1 due to both sides being related, so obviously we have to take a worse fixed priced double if we want to bet on this, 2-1 doesn't appear to be value to me.

3-1+ would be different and obviously 4-1 would be lovely.

Just seen Paddy Power have 2-1 on Bent anytime and Villa, another bet i'd steer clear of.

Wow glad this came up as never knew how much the bookies rinsed punters on these markets, 5/4 the Benteke bet with one firm!
