Horses in February did really well, mainly down to two lovely bets, Bitaphon (Camel, +£100) & Darkestbeforedawn (BadBeat, +£300 approx).

NFL profit in February was down to the 9-ers, who, as it happens, lost, but we covered nicely & did well out of it. One of the best fun bets we have ever had.

£100 came from "Splash" (Doobsy, +£100).

Most of the balance was bits & bobs, which is a good sign I think, plenty of small winners fits the bill perfectly.

We have some good bets in the book going forward, too, & to be fair, some pretty bad ones, too. The Liability stands at £837.50, & I'm confident it is worth more than that.

Our next major challenge - and what a challenge - is Cheltenham.

We have quite a good few bob invested at good prices already, & I'm sure there will be a lot more.

We may have to make a limit as to the total we invest in Cheltenham. There are tons of value spots there, but they take some finding. How many times have punters done their entire roll at Cheltenham, after going in with high hopes? Happy to have some Cheltenham fun, but we won't be betting enough to go broke.

Pretty sure everyone I've ever met always wins the lot at Cheltenham...

Yup, EVERYONE.

I attended Cheltenham as a Member for 20 years straight, always went down with a pocket full of money & a heart full of hope.  Coming home was usually a long & miserable journey, though with some great memories.

I absolutely love Cheltenham. Love it. And have frequently got in over my head only to have something get me out of jail near the end. You forget just how many 'value' races there are and how quickly it adds up!

When I used to edit Inside Edge we ran lots of previews for Cheltenham, mostly written by a wonderful tipster called Andy Michael (who now works as a financial journo). My favourite piece of advice was in a 10 Cheltenham Commandments.

1. Don't do the lot on the Supreme Novices

Probably the single best piece of advice we ever printed

quick quiz question for the regulars (and non regulars)

The copa del rey final is due to be played on the 18th May this year

It is however going to be moved due to which european event?

hopefully nobody listened to what i did earlier today

Only thing I an think of that is anywhere near that date is the CL final!

Or perhaps it maybe something to do with Golf/F1

Think I ought to give mention to a few of our star performers.

Sample size means most are not yet able to be considered, & whether to measure ROI or Profit is another dilemma.

These 3 or 4 seem to be doing best so far, though, taking into account Sample Size of course. Lots of folks have stratospheric ROI's but on single figure sample size, which cannot really be counted yet.

Over 14 months....

Doobsy, £994, 29 bets, 92% ROI.

hector, £503, 161 bets, 20% ROI.

horsey, £454, 82 bets, 30% ROI

TheDazzler, £424, 18 bets, 70% ROI.

BadBeat, £615, 23 bets, 52% ROI

I think the watford thing may well be the reverse of the Liverpool thing where one is over rated, the other under rated.

I also wonder if the "all good things" factor, comes into play as the bookies chase the loses on guys like us who will steam in.

Just added BadBeat to the "All-Time" list, missed him originally somehow. He gets it quietly.

In the Golf, our lad, David Howell (Adzy) is 4 off the lead, but in decent shape.

Good bet this, high hopes are entertained.

Please tell me it isn't what I think it is!!

Smiley

Jedward FTW!

And the ironic thing is that, a few years ago, Eurovision had to be moved to avoid a clash with the Champions League final (when that got shifted to a Saturday night.

Are the 20 odd guests the odds setters for each of the oddschecker bookies??!!

I think some of our regulars are getting a little paranoid here.

The Online Betting business generates HUGE sums, & amounts of bets, daily. 50 or 100 Fred followers is not even pissing in the ocean, & Bookies have better things to do than monitor blonde. A "Top 5" Online bookmaker generates a 6 figure number of bets, for a 7 figure sum, every day of the week, more at weekends.

The "Guests" comprise regular lurkers, genuine Members who are not signed in, (quite a few do this), search engine bots, & banned Members. I'd be astonished if a single bookie of any note ever even knew, or cared, that Fred existed.

I know its still quite early Tikay, but this was clearly a joke, in no way do I think bookies are rushing to the office to switch on TFT to make their job easier!

Ha, I got whooshed again.

But........there ARE Freddies who think the Bookies monitor this, I get PM's about it regularly. I won't embarrass the author, but one gentleman wrote to me a few days ago with THE most extraordinary conspiracy theory you ever heard, & his plans to combat it.

Anyway, apologies for my daily inbound whoosh, but I'm still reeling from the PM I mentioned.

I work for an Online Poker Site, as you know, so I should be used to conspiracy theories, but the folks that come up with this stuff  never cease to amaze me. One day I'll tell you why (according to the conspiracy boys...) there is always a pause after the Turn Card, & before the River, when there is an all-in during Online Poker. Talk about a facepalm moment.....

was it me?

Got this overnight from BetVictor......

Please be advised that we are making a change to our rules regarding palpable errors, this change will take place today (28.2.2013) at 11.00am GMT

The new rule will be:

i) "BetVictor cannot be held responsible for any mistakes in the publishing of prices or other palpable errors which lead to prices or conditions being posted other than those intended, or bets being accepted that contravene these rules.

ii) In all cases, in the first instance the pre-event bet containing the palpable error will be made void, as we understand customers may wish to reinstate these bets at the correct price we will contact the customer via email and offer a bet at the correct price. The offer to reinstate will be subject to a deadline after which the bet cannot be reinstated and the cancellation cannot be reversed.

iii) If no contact is made in response by the client or we are unable to make contact, the bet will be cancelled. Despite our every effort to ensure total accuracy, we reserve the right to correct obvious errors.

iv) For bets placed in-running that are accepted at incorrect prices and are obvious errors, all bets will be made void and the customer will not be contacted.

v) Any bet placed where the outcome is already known, including in-running, will be made void. BetVictor reserves the right to void a bet up to 7 days after the closure of the market if it transpires that the outcome was known when the bet was placed."
