The odds have now reversed in IPL.

They've more than reversed.

That would be because Delhi are 28/3 after 5 overs with Warner, Sehwag and Jayawardene out.

Shooting a low score looks more difficult at Augusta today.

Think could be a good spot to back people that are in early, and trade out before 3rd round

Mr T.

I have not got access to a TV at present. If you are watching the cricket and think it looks at all suspicious then maybe you should consider greening out as Hyderabad are odds on now!

Definitely dodgy going-ons. One of the Bowlers has very long hair, & looks well dodgy to me. His eyebrows meet in the middle, too, always a sign of a wrong 'un.

Should be easy to spot if its dodgy, will be 11 batsmen making a hash of chasing 120 in a 20/20 game in about 40mins.

Kelly issue can be solved by each tipster giving a probability assessment of their own confidence in their assessment of the correct price.

So, all we do is add a coefficient to the ultimate output of the Kelly calculation (call it F for Fred) and off we go.

Elders and betting experts will yend to have greater confidence and thus their bets will typically carry a coefficient closer to 1. Ice creams will be closer to 0.5 (we assume no one is proposing a bet where they have less than 50% confidence in it being a good price).

As Elders will often pick bets where the margin between correct price and advertised price is smaller, this will ensure through Kelly that the difference in bet sizing isn't all that pronounced.

Easy peasy

Following the Dubai Multiple Choice Quiz Model, either:

a) Everyone twigged that this was my attempt at humour;
b) People are sick of trying to teach me how stupid I look;
c) No one reads what I post if it doesn't involve Spurs or chess and even then at a push.

Assuming it's a), this thread is way better than that Cher thread.

There's a book called Fortune's Formula by William Poundstone which is a good read and goes into a fair bit of detail about Kelly Criterion

Hyperbads batting is obe of the weakest in the IPL but more than made up for it with their Bowling.

Thanks Simon.

I've been having a look at this Kelly thing, & I've got it sussed now.

We will devise a Kelly Variant & call it the "Eso Kral Criterion".

Here is how it is looking so far.
