Fancy Makharova might beat Kvitova (likes grass IIRC) but not seen any prices to propose a bet. Thoughts?

It's a good shout but the odds reflect it.
Makarova is best 21/20 which is rather tight.

I'm going to throw one out there.

Sean Connery to be in the Royal Box for the Men's Singles Final. 3/1 with Paddy Power.

Basically, you would think this is the odds of Murray to reach the final plus if he doesn't and Connery still goes to watch. Countenance this by saying Connery didn't make the final last year, but he did go to watch him in the US Open final and in the Olympics at Wimbledon.

Murray is currently 2/7 to reach the final. 3/1 Sir Sean spotted in the Royal Box.

Value? Shhhhhhhurely?

Like. very good. Basically backing Murray to final at 3-1 not 2/7

er, how old is Sean?

I'd like to inform everyone that my laptop is back from repair after 10 days. Hopefully things will run a little smoother now as I have been operating on a device first used by Archimedes.
I place 100% of the blame for the various mis-clicks and missed bets on the quality of my replacement device.

Blockbuster trade agreed in the NBA, maybe I've left it a little late as the prices have moved quite a lot, but Brooklyn at 20/1 to win the NBA next season is still attractive with Billy Hill. The trade doesn't go through (can't go through) til July 10 and some are slower than others moving prices, but if they pull it off, their team will be as good as anyone, Garnett, Pierce, Lopez, Johnson, Williams, best starting five around, plus they still have some good bench players, Terry, Evans or Brooks, looks awesome.

Morning Mr M.

Tonight Wigan host Castleford in superleague. We bet against Wigan on Monday when they lost a brutal game against Warrington. They have only had 4 days to recover, and that is not enough. If this match was at Castleford I would be looking at supporting Castleford for the outright win. But playing at home Wigan should have the resolve to get a win but not with a 20 point handicap. Castleford's defence is poor but they do have an acceptable offence and if they score 20 points then that should be enough to win on the handicap.

Suggest £22 Castleford +20 @ 10/11 with Hills, Ladbrokes and several others.

Morning Mr K.

I agree about lots of points in the St Helens game and that Hull KR have a chance, but I am leaning towards St Helens as their injuries have eased and they should now be able to find consistent form. I don't like to go against St Helens when they have Roby and Lomax available, at least not when they are against the lesser teams, and they are at home. Couldn't see 5-1 for Hull KR, best was spreadex at 4's.

I will also go for the unders points in the Huddersfield/Catalans game.

Bet Details   Date/Time   Stake   Return
Castleford  +20.0 @ 10/11

I believe that you are not a fan on betting overs so I guess that over 54.5 total points at 10/11 does not tempt you?

Sam Tompkins is out so that may reduce the points.

Was just replying to this.

I think Wigan will win comfortably tonight.  Yes, there was a bruising match on Monday, but the line-up will include a lot of different personnel.

Cons:  O'Loughlin, Sam, Mossop and Tuson missing.
Pros: Green, McIllorum, Dudson back in the side.

Having our first-choice 6,7 and 9 available is a massive plus.  This more than makes up for the absence of Sam Tomkins, imo.

I think a 20-point difference is about right for this game, and if Castleford play anything like they did last weekend, then they don't have a sniff.

Don't think the final 17-players have been announced from the 19 named in the squad, but I think Andy Powell is going to be on the bench for this.  Should be interesting.  Looking forward to the match, as it's a game that I'm actually able to go and see for once.

82.

Seems like a good fun bet.

He may be in a Spanish jail by then.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/spain/10061978/Sean-Connery-told-to-cooperate-with-Operation-Goldfinger-property-case.html

He has retired from public life but still plays golf, I believe.
Definitely seems capable of making it to Wimbledon although he lives in New York (as a proud Scot).

There we go, then. 82.

1953 from Wikipedia:

While in Edinburgh, Connery was targeted by the notorious Valdor gang, one of the most ruthless gangs in the city. He was first approached by them in a billiard hall on Lothian Street where he prevented them from stealing from his jacket and was later followed by six gang members to a 15 ft high balcony at the Palais. There Connery launched an attack single-handedly against the gang members, grabbing one by the throat and another by a biceps and cracked their heads together. From then on he was treated with great respect by the gang and gained a reputation as a "hard man".

I don't mind overs bets, and if they had not played on Monday I would be going for overs in this match as I would expect Wigan to score 45+ themselves.. But when your body is wrecked it is very hard to put in the extra effort that breaking through tackles requires. In fact if the weather is OK I may have an overs for you tomorrow.

Thinking about overs a bit more, I think my preference to go for unders bets is because people like to bet on things to happen, and the bookies know this and price up accordingly. So I find it easier to find unders bets that are priced up wrong.

If the proud scot Connery and Sir Alex make it to flushing meadows and then the Olympic final they'll be there for the Wimbledon final, surely if Murray makes it?

Murray is 2/7 to final

Connery is 3/1 to attend

Max bet.

I think he's a great signing - definitely cut out for Rugby League.

Like I say, for some reason he wasn't in the royal box for Murray's defeat to Federer last year. He lives in New York, so the appearance at Flushing Meadows was a short trip. But he did also go to Wimbledon for the Olympics and is a regular spot at Wimbledon generally.

Seems like a good bet to me. It's paddy power so you should probably bet all of the £3.87 they'll allow.

It's 5am here so I'll stop researching oddball bets and go to sleep. Hope Fred is well.

A couple of questions. It seems a good price considering he went to Olympics and US Open but why wasn't he at Wimbledon last year? And would he be in the Royal Box if he attended? There seems to be a lot of people in front of him in the betting;
