The odds of all the women in the tennis have dropped significantly as Serena loses the first set against the wonderful Sabine Lisicki.

Monday's market moves

Eight horses remain in Saturday's Coral Eclipse Stakes at Sandown and Al Kazeem is a general 6/4 favourite.

"Al Kazeem was very impressive at Royal Ascot and Roger Charlton's five-year-old is a worthy favourite," said Leon Blanche of Boylesports. "Aidan O'Brien still holds three entries with Mars supported from 6/1 into 5/1."

The Fugue is a general 4/1 shot along with Declaration Of War, who is 11/4 with a run with bet365.

Mars can still be backed at 6/1 with Stan James, the same price generally available about Mukhadram, while Pastorius has been punted into a best of 9-1 with BetVictor and Stan James.

The latter quote 9/1 about Camelot, too, despite that one being as short as 5/1 elsewhere, and Miblish completes the field at 66/1.

Looks like we have a run with camelot anyway

Meanwhile we have an Ashes sweat already

Swann was hit on the arm by the very speedy Tymal Mills in the warm up game v Essex

He is off for an x-ray

Would be a big loss for England for any games, and not great news at the start of July for us (and lots of rewrites for me!"O)

... and, like the tide, the odds have all gone out again as Serena wins the second set 6-1.

Last month was Fred's busiest ever month with 169 closed bets; the previous highest was 160 in April.
We closed 97 bets on horses alone, mostly during a frantic Royal Ascot.

June ended in profit after some large fluctuations.

Onwards and upwards.

Thanks for the detailed summary Mere.

Some of those numbers astonish, especially those I have enboldened.

Given our in-house rules & criteria, to try & get as many folks involved as possible, I think a 3% ROI is a stunningly good result. Pros & Elders excepted, I doubt many punters do that well over a sample size of almost 1,800 bets, & £60,000 wagered.

Given the time invested, it is not much of a return I suppose, but the fun factor is incredible.

Special thanks to everyone who contributes, & especially to Mere for all his hard work & patience.

As Mere noted, onwards & upwards.

On Brazil.....it is generally a very bad idea to bet a team, player, horse or whatever after a very impressive performance.  You are backing them on the back of something that everyone has seen including the bookmakers who are aware that they are now going to get bets on them so shorten accordingly.  The key to success in this business imo is to find the hidden form, the things that others haven't seen or, even, to understand why a performance that is causing a selection to shorten is actually worse than perceived.  In the case of Brazil I think there may have been a difference in motivations for this competition.  It was very important to Brazil because it was effectively a warm up for the World Cup and was on home ground.  I would imagine the players from the other countries felt a bit less enthused and maybe even resented the fact that they had to delay their vacations for it.  If the same game was repeated in a world cup final I wouldn't expect anything like the same result.

Bartoli now best priced 14/1. Oh to be on her at 50/1 (or even 150/1).

Have just got back home and obviously logged straight in to TfT.

My jetlag must be severe, as I could have sworn I read a suggestion that Brazil would be 9/1 to win the world cup.

Cheesy

Serena getting beaten has made my day. If only I knew which day it was. It was 2pm Sunday when I set out...

Swann x ray no fracture, could bowl in this game when the bruising subsides. Phew

Bartoli wins (she better not scoop at 50-1 lol )
