Not a lot takes my fancy in the cricket except laying the draw on betfair @ 3.5.  The reasons from the 1st test still apply (both teams stronger bowling units than batting, very unlikely to be any interruptions).  Added to that the Lords pitch should have more pace in it, so whilst I expect more runs to be scored, they should come at a much faster rate than we saw on days 3, 4 and 5 at Trent Bridge.  There has been just 1 draw in the last 10 tests at Lords, and that game would likely had produced a result had the full overs been played.  There have been a couple of high scoring games for Middlesex at Lords this year but still only 1 of the 4 CC games ended in a draw despite all the bad weather at the start of the season.

Australia @ 4.33 seems better than England @ 1.97, although I wouldn't lay either at those prices

Quintana up to 4th (?) Mollema falters.....

Great podium sweat here, bet placed at 33/1 e/w by cheapwetsuit three months ago!

Any idea where this bet was placed? I'm sure I was on it but can't find it anywhere!

William Hill

Quintana is actually 5th, 2 mins off the podium after losing time to Kreuziger today. I suppose the next two stages he should claw it back

He's 1.5 on Betfair to podium

In the Silly Cricket, Northants won the toss, elected to batter, and are 8-2. Yassar Arafat (?) took the first wicket.

Hi Mere,

Not sure if you're around & how long you've got.

PP Froome 1.25 v The Field 3.50 in todays TT stage.

http://www.paddypower.com/bet/cycling/tour-de-france?ev_oc_grp_ids=251569&aff_id=10066772

Based on weather predictions that later in the day has a greater chance of rain.

http://france.meteoconsult.fr/meteo/chorges/france/prevision_meteo_chorges_france_ville__1240_0.php?vue=detail&url=http://france.lachainemeteo.com/meteo-france/ville/previsions-meteo-chorges-1240-0.php#

Suggest £20.00 The Field, & rain dance!

I'm late on parade (and will be so tomorrow).
The field is now 2/1 - is this still a bet?

Il pleut.

Rain has descended on Le Tour.
Looks like Fred has missed out on a great tip from Tonji for today's trial.
Good luck everyone who got on.

Good fred miss.

Probably needed a deluge, with the sort of beast form Froome is in.

Boxing

BJ Saunders on points at 7/4 with BV is a very nice price and unlikely to last. He is technically very good but really lacks punching power. He was unable to find a stoppage against a past it Bradley Price, Nick Blackwell and blown up light-middle Matthew Hall. All 3 fighters had been stopped before anytime they had stepped up in class. Saunders has also had hand problems in the past so is content to use his technical superiority to outbox his opponents rather than unloading and risking further hand trouble (much like Calzaghe in the latter part of his career).O'Sullivan is 16-0 and probably his toughest test to date but I expect Saunders to get a wide UD, something like 118-110. Recommend £40

Bad start for Fred as Northants loss 2 wickets in the first over. (poor LBW decision on the first imo)

pitch looks good, fast outfield ,shortish boundaries ....need a decent score to put the pressure on.

Good evening Mr M.

With so many bets on people to do well we  I think we need an alternative. I propose a bet on a Ryder cup hero to miss the cut, but not 3G. Ian Poulter has had a poor season with only 1 top 10 finish and 3 missed cuts including the Masters. He has also missed the cut at 2 of the last 6 opens. It is hard to imagine that he has ever arrived at the Open in worse form and this course demands accuracy off the tee and then a whole range of shots afterwards, not conducive to an out of sorts golfer.

Suggest £15 Poulter to miss the cut @ 9-4 with William Hill.

My text alert just went off.

Son of Delboy makes it through to Produce Stakes final. Runs Saturday at Swindon best ante post price 7/1. I recommend a bet at this price.

This was from well-connected chap at Hall Green (the home track of this dog), who knows more about dogs and prices than I.

Odds are here:

http://www.oddschecker.com/greyhounds/ante-post/produce-stakes/winner?mobile_redirect=false

Form is here:

http://www.sportinglife.com/greyhounds/profile/dog/son-of-delboy/2550472

Happily take views from the Elders. Fundamentally, this is a "my mate fancies" tip that is on a major final, where you'd expect everything is trying. However, we are looking for value, which is a little more subjective and the odds are skewed by a big favourite.

Something to do on Saturday after the cricket?

Thanks Simon.

"Mates tip", noted, but hopefully one of our greyhound lads will take a look for us, or even Dubai.

2 missed cuts and two top 10s from 10?  He is trying a new putter for the Open, which doesn't sound like the action of a confident man, and the top 10s were right at the start of the year.
