Sky Bet are sponsoring the FL
They have gone top price everyone Champ, L1 and L2 for those wanting on anything
eg
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/winner
Not an excuse for a dig please, but just passing on for Reading, Watford, Donny to go down etc etc that have all been mentioned on here

I think it is far harder to make the cut in a major. At a rough guess to make any cut you have to be in the top 60+ ties. At an ordinary golf tournament you may have 25 of the top 100 players in the world. At a major tournament you will likely have 90% of the worlds top 100 players which would make it far harder to make it into the top 60.
Hi Milky.
The Open allow for "
70 playes & ties
" & to make the cut.

Another golf question, this time for Doobs.
When placing multiple e/w bets on an event like The Open do you factor in the reduced equity for each subsequent bet as only one person can win it and only 8 (for example) can place.
I don't think you can be thinking about it right.
We can't be reducing equity on one bet by placing more bets on different people. My equity on the Stenson bet is the same if I back Dufner or if I don't back Dufner. The fact I have backed Dufner has no bearing on Stenson's performance at all.
Normally backing so many runners in a betting event would be a really stupid thing to do, and bound to be -EV. My opnion is that it is definitely +EV here because of the very generous each way terms.

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots

It shouldn't affect expected value; I'd think the only thing it increases is exposure.
Actually, I suppose if your first bet is getting 3/1 on an even money shot and your second bet is getting 3/1 on a 2/1 shot, your overall EV would decrease as an average, but it would still be positive, which is what we are after.
The nut result is to have every horse in the field at a better than expectation price and just play Sklansky bingo with a kettle, some skimmed milk and a packet of chocolate hobnobs.
Quite hard to do that in a 120 runner field, mind.

BTW feel free to call bogey on that, if I'm misunderstanding. Just thinking aloud as ever.

Froome docked/given/penalised 20 seconds for having an additional picnic on the last ascent.

After thinking about it some more, I think you're right in thinking that I'm not thinking about it right.
Thanks.

Official Bad News.
As of midnight tonight, it is time for Mere to have a well-deserved rest from being the Fred Bettor Placer Bloke, & he plans to have a full break for the weekend, & a bit of a rest going forward, so I shall have to resume the role.
BIG thanks to him for looking after the shop in my absence, I think he did a terrific job, & had great tact & diplomacy in handling the various recommendations, & the whole thing is incredibly time-consuming.
The changeover takes place at Midnight tonight.

yeh good stuff Longy, I feel educated now, gonna be a Ducks fan this season. Let's get at least 20 quid on at 25s or anything over 20s Mere, nice price
Good to have you on board! Will attempt to give updates in this thread when the season gets going ( last week in August), as even describing college football as a niche sport in this country would be exaggerating.

Can't we follow a team with a funnier name?
Is there not an Austin Turtlestranglers, a Boston Mighty Unclehuggers or a Harvard Oiksmashers we can sweat this season?

Meanwhile, why does it look like Steve Smith is bowling our team out on day one at Lords?

There are some weird nicknames in college sports, Georgia tech springs to mind who are the ramblin wreck which I believe Norman chad refers to often on wsop coverage.
