Tampa Bay Rays are at the Red Sox for the next 4 evenings.  Guess these are the equivalent of "6 pointers".  Sure Tikay could put me right here.

Cheesy

I knew they had been doing well due to their price shortening over the last few weeks, but I had no idea that they had been going that well.

Absolute freeroll now then and I presume it will take a miracle for anyone outside of our 2 to win?

Not quite, the Orioles are still in the Hunt and the Yankees can go on a run

Two wild card teams for the AL and ti was long assumed these woudl come from the West. A decent chance now that both might come from the East.

The prices seem a little misleading then, but then again I'm clueless about Baseball.

I just didn't think it would be that close between the teams, and presumed TBR/BRS had pulled away.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge goes into labour.

The price of the fourth in line being a girl is...ahem...contracting...

Will the sprog not be the 3rd in line?

Poor phrasing on my part, as I was including Her Majesty.

Finely pedantified, sir.

Mr Kinboshi, could you please turn your attention to the derby match tonight and think a little less about the rules of succession.

St Helens tonight, low points any idea?

You want my advice after the Rovers debacle?  We really should stop betting on them (the only time they came good was when I tipped them to beat Saints, and we didn't actually get the bet on!).

As for THE derby match, it's an interesting one.

Here's what I know:

1.  Wigan are a far better side than Sintellins.
2.  Wigan have almost a full squad to pick from now after a period of having lots of first choice players out with injury (but see point 4 below).
3.  Sintellins have a number of key players out with injury, including their main man Roby and I've also heard that Lomax might be out for tonight's game as well.
4.  Wigan will be resting their two most important players - O'Loughlin and Sam Tomkins.  Both are HUGE misses, and it's no coincidence that Wigan's losses have come when either one or both have been absent.  Hansen is also missing, and he's also a key player for Wigan in both attack and defence.
5.  Sintellins' pack is going to take a battering by a much stronger and aggressive Wigan forward line.  Saints don't really have a recognised prop named in their squad, and off the back of the forward dominance I expect Smith and Green to have a field day in the halves.
6.  Wane obviously has more than an eye on the CC-semi, but as a Wiganer knows the importance of THE derby match to the fans and the players.
7.  Home advantage hasn't meant much to Saints at Langtree, so don't think that's a significant factor.
8.  Even without Sam and O'Loughlin, I'd expect Wigan to produce a fair few scoring opportunities, and have players in the likes of Charnley, Richards, etc., who are excellent finishers.

So, what was the question? Cheesy

Will muse derby some more.

I quite like the Malky Mackay first to be chopped bet.   Certainly fell that Hull and Palace will give their managers more time whereas the Cardiff guy seems very much to want instant success.

40/1 seems wrong doesn't it?

If William were to die before Charles (likely King George VII, I understand, as the two Charleses didn't enjoy the best of reigns), then Harry would become Prince of Wales and next in line. Otherwise, it would be Princess Tulisa (500/1 Laddies).

What is success for Cardiff this season? Staying up?

No real view on the price so not putting anyone off a 40-1 shot!

but from a tactical point of view I feel Cardiff are very very solid at the back. Will set up to be tight and Marshall and Hudson will lead a competitive back line.

I don't see them as whipping boys, and know a very good judge who has them, large, in a match bet with Swansea to finish ahead of them.

They conceded 45 goals in the championship, in 46 games and I was told they were very average away from home at one point after including them in a 291 team accumulator in which they, along with many others let me down.
Maybe 45 goals in the championship is good but wouldn't they be expected to concede at least double that in the premiership?

Cardiff were extremely workmanlike away from home last season. Often set up 4-5-1 when, if fit, Bellamy played up top and they nicked a lot of away games 1-0 and the like by being impossible to break down. Marshall is a a fine keeper, Hudson a class centre half

Obviously its a huge step up to the Premiership but I think its a bit of a leap to say they'll be conceding 90+. Their first aim will be not to lose a lot of games.

40-1 may well be great on Mackay to go first. the owners may well have all sorts of plans to kick on, a bit like Southampton's last season when Adkins went to general outcry because the owners wanted their man in etc etc

All I am saying is don't take the bet on the basis that they'll be right down there in October. I think they'll be a touch better than that
