It was Ladbrokes who reported Ian Black for Gambling to the SFA, seemingly the phoned him and asked if he was Ian Black the Footballer.

This was reported by a good scottish footballer journalist last week

Really not sure how that fits in with the data protection act or whatever is relevant in this case

An organisation or business which collects Data from a Client may ONLY use it for the intended purpose, & those details remain private between the Site & the Client. In the case of an Online Gaming Site, those "purposes" are easily defined.

We must not, of course, assume or suggest that Ladbrokes have acted improperly, we don't have such evidence. Journalists, of course, can & do get away with murder.

Crucially, this INCLUDES "pending bonuses". The 3 x £25 Free Bets we had earned with them are now no longer available to me. Tighty needs to write these off.  The missive was dated September 11th, but I have only just seen it.

Were the bets that "provided" the free bets placed before the 11th?  If so, I would be complaining to IBAS at a shot.

Definitely this. Love Tal's analogy too!

On ladbrokes, if you put your selection on the betslip, there is an "i" in a circle just under the red cross.  Hoverring over that will tell you your min/max also.

Thanks Simon, was not aware of that.

Tested it.

I looked at placing a bet on Leicester to beat Blackburn tomorrow, which is a 4/5 Shot, the Max was £250.

That's not so bad, it's workable.

On three occasions he did bet against his own side but unless it was decent sized bets I don't know why Ladbrokes would do this.

Because cheaters gonna cheat

It should be absolutely crystal clear why sportsmen shouldn't bet on sports where they can influence the result.  Jockeys aren't allowed to bet on horses.

The amount is irrelevant.

I agree but they turn a blind eye to hundreds more.

It has been reported that Erik Lamela's brother was kidnapped last week and the player heard not long before the game against Norwich. The kidnappers in Buenos Aires demanded a ransom, which the family paid, and the man was returned to the house in exchange for the sum agreed.

£550.

Don't know about that, but the apologists for Black seem to be astonished by the revelation that footballers aren't allowed to bet on football, when it the logic behind the ban is blindingly obvious.

I just looked at what they would allow me on that horse in the 4pm Wolverhampton which horsey gave us yesterday.

They have it at 8/1 currently, & my Max Bet was £80.

On the Favourite in the same race, which they list @ 11/4, they would allow me £90.91.

So it seems to be a formula which I can't grasp yet, but it is not a flat £500 winning amount.

Camel will know.......

Anyway, trial & error will be the way.

Lets move on.

I blame Aaron.  Whistling smiley.

The restriction doesn't look so bad.  Taking away free bets already earned does seem very naughty to me.  I'd probably just ignore it as you aren't restricted terribly, but I'd be on to ASA too if had really got you.

Moving on, I am sure I read some stuff on Betfair about how they can let the sporting authorities know about your bets.  I guess they can report footballers under the T and Cs?

Yes, that is the towering beast that is usually Bernie Ecclestone. Number three is obviously Carlos Tevez and four Llorente.

Number one is the slightly enhanced figure of Ronaldo, who seems to have more hair than in his heyday
