Slightly late to the party but the trend of rookies not winning at The Masters stretches back over 30 years. Obviously a very talented guy and clearly plays well in Georgia but I wouldn't go crazy on a first timer there. Average winner at Augusta is 32 and has had 7 prev starts there.
I did not comment last night, as I was busy elsewhere, but this was my first thought, too.
However, for balance, the guy might be a bit special, potentially one of the greatest judging by his recent progress & tender years, & I think, at 66/1, we are not in too bad shape.
This was also why I asked the "ew?" question, I think, in this case, it makes much more sense.
Anyways.....we are on now, so orf we jolly well go on the Spieth Masters Adventure.
Average winning age on the PGA tour was 35, so people win the Masters at a younger age than average?
The difference is probably all down to the outlier that is Tiger Woods. We are backing him because we think he is going to do as well as Woods. Woods finished his first season with 2 wins (Spieth 1), but Spieth was higher in the rankings. Woods won 4 in his second season including the Masters. Woods had played it twice already, so that doesn't bode so well, but when he played those first two he wasn't as good as Spieth is now.
There just aren't that many players that were that god this early, so Spieth is simply better than your average debutant.
Finally we got 66/1 so can live with the bad stats. I just don't think it can be bad.

Man Utd are available at 5/4 tomorrow, to beat Liverpool in the League Cup, at Old Trafford. Quite rare to see them that price at home.
Yes yes, they don't take the League Cup seriously, but there ought surely be a backlash after Sunday's debacle v Man City? Hard to imagine they won't be trying to salvage some pride. Back to back defeats to Man C & Liverpool would not go down too well.

Indeed - one of those ones where perhaps pressure on the manager dictates team selection. Ditto for Norwich at Watford at the game I am going to tonight.

Jordan Spieth 100/1 with bet365 for The Open (win only) and 80/1 with PP paying first 6 places. Just saying.

Daily Report
Profit on Month £594.81
Outstanding Bets £2786.90
No free bets
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc#gid=29
A loss of £91 yesterday with a late saving grace, Eric Decker's touchdown first scorer in Dnever last night producing a £70 profit
That aside, the loser litany read as follows
* Draw Bias 2, Chompy 0 -£40 at Tipperary. One suspects Sunderland 2, Peterborough 0 tonight might make him re-appear in the report tomorrow
* Brentford lost at home -£50. In truth they looked a shadow of the side I saw last season and Orient with their 8th win in 8 games are off to the best start of any side in an English division since Mourinho's Chelsea in 2006
* Denver comfortably covered the spread against the Raiders - £66. That was quite rare really, 19.5 and 14.5 spread favourites covering on the same NFL weekend
* Thomas did not score the first touchdown -£5. This is just as well as two Thomases were quoted, Julius and Demaryius and both might have scored the first TD and there was no way for me to tell which was backed. I think, given trends in the second half of September, I would have put either down as a winner and blagged it.
The Longer term stuff
- The Rays were playing the last home game of their season. They were down 4-2 and got it back to 4-4. At the bottom of the ninth the game was still tied. The Trop, a baseeball field masquerading as a circus tent, was alive. James Loney had been rested all night but came out to pinch hit at the start of the innings. First pitch, thwack, hit the opposite way for a walk off home run and a 5-4 home win
So...
Tampa Bay Rays 87 69 .558 -1
Cleveland Indians 86 70 .551 --
----------------------------------
Texas Rangers 85 71 .545 1
Kansas City Royals 83 73 .532 3
New York Yankees 82 74 .526 4
Tampa now go away for the last 7 games, including 4 against the Ynakees in the Bronx. The Royals are still in there fighting, they walked off in the 12th last night but are runnign out of games to catch up
Away from football Espanyol beat Bilbao last night which is disappointing
Today, come on Peterborough! Come on Aston Villa!
Its the last games of the cricket season
Derbyshire v Warwickshire
Sussex v Durham
We need neither of Sussex and Warwicks to win to claim Middlesex for an each way 3rd

Wait, what? Decker got the 1st TD?
Sheeesh, you do something nice for someone, go for a snooze, wake up and you owe Tikay £65. Such is life
Funny actually now that I look at my post. I actually posted that I backed Thomas x 2 but I can confirm (after a nervous check) that I backed Thomas and Decker.
As the world sleeps, Fred will awake.........£65 richer.
Pm me your Stars name Teeks.
Cheers Red.
My 'Stars account has been dormant for a good few years I'm afraid.
Can we perhaps sort it via a third party who has a "live" 'Stars account, or alternatively, we can settle it at the Fred Bash perhaps?
Sorry to be a pain.
You can send this via me if you want.

Do we have any positions on the League Cup outright?
For me good picks would be Prem teams not expected to be in a relegation scrap and not in Europe.
Views on Everton/Saints/Villa/Stoke/Newcastle type teams all at between 18-1 and 33-1?
Are these teams value due to the low odds of the bigger sides, who will almost certainly throw in a weakened team at some point (or indeed in every game).
Or have the bookies all priced this in fully? For example, the teams for the FA cup are between 20-1 and 50-1, but is this difference due to the "reserve team" phenomenen or is it because to win the League Cup it's only 5 more rounds, whereas to win the FA Cup is 7 rounds.
Thoughts?

Fred history is made!
Today, for the first time ever, the owner of a losing bet (Chompy) is named in the Report. Quite right too.
Then, in case you missed it, in the photo gallery, Tighty slips in this gem.....
http://www.theracingforum.co.uk/horse-racing-forum/viewtopic.php?t=68941
Note the date - April 2001.
Note also the warm comments in the "comment" section, both of which were in alternative Chompy aliases imo.
What a top guy. Cheers to Graham Wheldon for that piece

Might be right there.
Tough to look past the top few in the market for the cups, isn't it? Big numbers for finding the right outsider. Everton could be one with Martinez. With the Carling Cup, I suppose you want a team that will be peaking around Christmas, rather than a squad deep enough to be performing at the end of the year for the FA Cup (Wigan maybe an exception). Could be a fun sweat if the draws are kind

Graham if you could change one thing about British racing what would it be?
Just one? I'd like to move Derek Thompson to Live & Kicking where he belongs and switch him for red-headed temptress Sarah Cawood,

Sarah Cawood was one of the presenters of The Girlie Show, possibly the most Nineties TV show of all time, as it replaced The Word IIRC. Also started the career of Sara Cox and a couple of other people I can't remember the names of.
The Girlie Show was a ladette-type programme and brought us the Spice Girls:
It's cleavage OR legs. Huge fashion faux pas that. Although, this was a different time, I guess...
