Apparently chandimal has dropped himself and malinga really is captain and it isn't a joke like we all thought.

What's going on?!

chandimal was banned for the last game and malinga captained superbly. great motivational stuff and v good tactically

seems a nice unselfish decision to me if chandimal doesn't think he is part of the best eleven#

meanwhile....could we get Paulinho some TEFL lessons to get him back in the team please?

Some of you might remember Bill Hartston as the winner of (and later resident expert on) The Master Game. Others might know him from Gogglebox or the Daily Express.

Anyway, chess, Cambridge, a dodgy application of maths over tiny sample sizes, eccentricity. What's not to like?

just had this message from butt356

i stuck "more" national bets on and instantly got half my stake back

Hi Neil

The Grand National takes place on Saturday 5th April and we’ve got a fantastic money back offer for each-way bets placed on the world’s greatest horse race.

All you have to do is place your bets on the Grand National between Thursday 3rd April and midday on Saturday 5th April. We will then give you half the stake back for every each-way bet that you place, up to a maximum total refund of £125 per customer.

To ensure that your refund is credited as quickly as possible, please only include Grand National bets on your bet slip. Refunds will be credited to your account within 12 hours of bet placement.

To add to the unbeatable value, we are also Non-Runner No Bet and paying 1/4 odds for the first FIVE places on the big race.

With enhanced place terms on selected races and the bet365 Price Promise, our Channel 4/1 Offer and Best Odds Guaranteed also available throughout the three days - bet365 is the best place to enjoy this year’s Grand National meeting at Aintree.

Enjoy the action!
The bet365 Team

Terms and Conditions apply

the terms are here, pretty straight forward, max 125 in free returns, and must already have account
http://www.bet365.com/extra/promotions/horse-racing/grand-national-2014/

This looks like a really good offer to me for those with a working Bet365 account. Looks like more money for me to punt off this week. These weeks are great for my ice cream account SmileySmiley

Psycho appointed as Nottingham Forest Manager - Marky got the lot again, I suppose?

I think Red got the lot, but I steered clear.

Nope - not a single penny on unfortunately.

Onto todays action I definitely like the idea of laying The New One.   Everyone is pricing it with the assumption it is the moral champion hurdle winner and ignoring the fact that Champion Hurdle winners have a horrendous record in this race.  It takes a totally different horse to win over half a mile further on this flat track.  I like Diakali fwiw.

33/1 Neil Lennon to Nottingham Forest of any interest?

surely an available manager has to be a stronger possibility? Lennon could get a PL job in the summer if he wanted to move on?

Zola is evens favourite, and you can see that I think

Malky Mackay (16-1)  must be sought after by any championship side with ambition looking, but there are a couple of flies in the ointment I suppose a) can he take a job while he is in legal dispute with cardiff? (reference di matteo not taking one until chelsea finish paying him) and b) would he go somewhere dysfunctional with chairman issues?

S Pearce has pretty much stuck his hand up and said he would take the job. With his Forest connections he has to be a strong candidate. 6-1

If I was him, its a hiding to nothing as a Forest legend, but then no one thinks like me.

I Leave Next Manager stuff to horsey and Marky

Ahem....a little before the others, and a better price..I TY thumbs up

I haven't got the Betfair log in unfortunately, otherwise i'd lay The New One for tikay. think 4 people have agreed with that one

if there were formal recommendations for things like diakali, first lt etc i would get on if william hill were competitively priced

A great judge once told me 'you will never go skint laying a short one'!  He knows who he is!

I actually think the opposite these days, loads of stuff that is short should be way shorter, too many people scared to get stuck in to long odds on- and as Redarmi has said a few times, traders don't get sacked laying 1/3 winners when they should be 1/5, but go 33-1 about a 32-1 chance and it wins and you're in big trouble

I learnt my lesson on that one long ago....probably about the point when at VC where I had the reputation as the office bookie and Tony Bloom called me into his office and asked me if I fancied laying him a few athletics bets that were all 1/3 and shorter.  If I remember rightly one I knocked back was Michael Johnson at 1/4 to win the 400m.......which just goes to show how bad prices were back then.  He would be 1/33 if the race was run now!!!!
