Fred Couples last four finishes at Augusta:-

2010 - 6th
2011 - 15th
2012 - 12th
2013 - 13th

Loves Augusta. Still hits it a long way averaging 299.4 yards this season. Won his 10th Champions Tour Classic last month and has been playing great for a long long time on that tour.

Bwhine are best priced 4/1 to finish in the top 20 at Augusta. What do we think?

Fred as Top Senior at 15/8 looks a solid bet to my eyes. That group looks v weak by comparison and looks at worst a flip between him and MAJimenez

Any option to lay it off after he's leading the first round?

Saw that market earlier, looks a cracking bet considering Marks stats that he put up.

Given he is around 33/1 to top 5 (3%) and 10/1 (9%) to top 10 4/1 (20%) top 20 looks very fair.  He has to be way more like to finish in the 11-20 slot than the 1-10 finishing spots.  Like the 4/1 a lot.

Ties paid in full which makes it even better!

Any love for the Japanese Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama?  He has played Augusta a couple of times before. He hasn't won a PGA tournament, but has won 5 in Japan, including 4 last year.  He has missed one cut this year, and finished top 40 in the other 5 PGA events he has played since the turn of the year.  Sure 80/1 6 places must be good on the maths, but £2 e/w isn't brilliant.  Several others pay 5 places,  20/1 the place comfortably beats the 14/1 on Betfair, which more than makes up for getting 80/1 rather than 94/1 on the win.

Bobby, Adz?

Can only echo what Bobby says, mainly because he tells me this sort of stuff!

I keep telling him I can see  Westwood doing well. I get this feeling when he says nothing, he is laughing uncontrolably at my stupidity.  idiot

Sure i posted similar last year but anyway.

Thread very rarely has a golf bet every week, comes to the Masters and seems we are backing a lot of golfers. Does the extra place (or two) make having lots of bets worthwhile?

Not talking about the special bets can see the attraction there (great spot doubleup btw)

7-Apr   mark porter   bwin   13-Apr   golf   US Masters top 20 couples   4/1   25

the only outstanding decision from those discussed is:

couples top senior 7/4 betfairsportsbook

Tighty, the stuff on BE has a recommended number of points to bet each way. Looking at the above (Garcia, Johnson, Schwarzel) they all have the same amount placed. Is this just an oversight or is there a specific reason for nit following the recommended amount?

Not a criticism by the way, just interested in peoples thought processes with regards to staking plans.

I personally think we miss out quite a lot by not following and betting the golf regularly. This is something that I am quite keen on studying and have been working on different ways of learning and following the golf as much as possible. Hopefully when I get more confident in what I'm doing and can explain and find value I will be putting up more recommends and write ups. Baby steps though as I'm still learning a shed load from various places.

Although to my mind the value obviously goes up with the offers that are available around The Majors. Which we must take into consideration when placing the bets. Double up has put a post in the golf thread about current offers for The Masters which is great info all in one place ( Helped me for example when placing the BE bets)

Stupid question...

Is the winner the one who gets the green jacket for the purposes of "first time winner"/"previous winner" bets?

It isn't possible to scoop, is it?

There will be plenty of green flying about if the boy Spieth can do us a turn!!

Don't think I can see the sportsbook prices on oddschecker on my mobile, and my internet has gone really bad tonight so switched the pc off.  Looking at the prices, a lot of bookies are pretty skinny on their prices, so it may be that Betfair Sportsbook are just offering fair prices.  I literally can't tell from here.

Each way is probably better for longer priced golfers, but am flailing around in the dark without access to the prices and an unstable internet.

not quite sure what you are saying?

"prev winners" are us masters winners not winners of other tournaments

Just reread my question and realised I posted about an eighth of what I thought I did!

In short, I was just checking they don't pay out on someone who ties first; it is purely the overall winner.

I did say it was a stupid question, but a poorly worded T&C could be delish.
