Just seen the weights for tomorrow's fight. Groves going for handspeed over resilience?

Coming in that far under is generally not a positive.

Usually would agree but he's not been sat in a sauna to then land that far under. Looking at his physique this looks very much like his gameplan. If he has the stamina to go with his clearly increased speed advantage this will be a tough night for Froch IMO.

It's possible for an athlete to maintain muscle mass and drop those pounds by a lack of fluid. He would look shredded but it would weaken his endurance abilities on fight night.

We should be giving Coral credit for taking a stance in this day and age of bookmaking.

Your point still stands though. Everyone thinks Froch is odds on favourite but there's no explanation as to why he favours Froch more so than everyone else.

One things for sure, he will come out smelling or roses if Froch wins this high profile fight.

Should prob discuss this more on the boxing thread, but it's a subject I find fascinating. Gatti once gained something like a stone and a half after the weigh in. Then there was the farce where De La Hoya couldn't gain the weight he wanted and got clobbered by Pacquiao. Groves could be in the ring eight pounds heavier tomorrow night, but his body will have been through torture to get there.

There's been medical research on the effects of such extreme dehydration and it makes a huge difference to the fluid levels around the brain, which is obviously a big deal when some beefy bloke is throwing an eight ounce glove in your face.

Of course, you could always do what Floyd did and pay half a million to keep an extra couple of pounds rather than make the weight...

Let's not get too carried away.  Coral are 11/8 Groves bf is currently over 6/4.  They are 4/1 Groves by decision and bf is currently over 5/1.  Hardly taking a stance tbf

This time yesterday we were discussing how Corals were happy to lay a price on GG by decision/TD that was an arb on Betfair.

Meanwhile, in the NBA thing, Heat lead Pacers 84-48 with 4 minutes remaining in the third quarter. I think this is a good thing.

Just need the spurs to win tomorrow then the spurs win the title and parker mvp and we have had it right off.  Nearly there!

That's a great portfolio we have there, amazing foresight and value.

It was an arb and it wasn't a wrong price. Coral still offer exactly the same price. Betfair layers have reacted to the weigh in news whilst the bookies line hasn't budged.

Look at the oddschecker price history and you'll see Coral opened at 2-1 and held it. Money has been traded in a semi liquid betfair market at lower odds than Coral were laying at the time.
