Had a week full of Breeders Cup so may as well post the best performance ever on dirt

"Arazi runs right by em!"

First year I was properly interested in racing and still not sure I have seen anything like it since.  Definition of a steering job.

On another note anyone seen any firms going 1/4 odds all races and/or paying 4 in the 16 runner races?  Looks a great card if we can get decent terms.

As far as I recall, Scuy are going quarter odds first 3 in most of the Breeders Cup races.

Arazi was undoubtedly very impressive but my favourite BC performance albeit in defeat was Dayjur.

Drawn in the car-park and had the race sown up for all money only to get beaten because it jumped a shadow 50 yards from the winning line.

One of the greatest races for me and just happened to be a Breeders cup race.

55 year old Lester Piggott back from a 5 year retirement that included a stretch inside for tax evasion wins the 1990 Breeders Cup mile with a 'wait as long as possible before delivering' ride on a 6 furlong horse 10 days after returning to the saddle. (after missing the break)

<3 Fleur.  Before the live shows, she was mooching round the bottom of the polls and Facebook likes, now flying high with the two favorites.  http://tellymix.co.uk/reality-tv/the-x-factor/201005-poll-x-factor-2014-finalists-whos-your-favourite-week-4.html.  Seems to be popular in the love show threads on digital spy every week and has a pretty big fan thread there.

If there is such a thing as momentum, she has it.  Hopefully we can get a run to the final, and a Tikay will have to tune in.

BREEDERS CUP PREVIEW

Will start by saying usually i have a dozen or so fancies that turn into six or seven bets. This year i have had a lot less but have spent more time on the individual races as a result. Friday is normally a very weak day but tomorrow looks good quality.

We start with the Juvenille Turf http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/2014-10-31-santa-anita/21:25/winner

Hootenanny is the drifting favourite a sprinter trying a mile. Wes Ward however often defies logic with his horses and when you delve deeper than are some positive signs, this race is generally about speed not staying power.

That is the clip of his debut at Keeneland a quite remarkable one which then followed with his Royal Ascot romp. Over 4 1/2 furlongs on debut he ran the final quarter faster than any other in the race, this is incredibly rare even in sprinters.

Infact the only other three sprinters to do this at Keeneland were also trained by Wes Ward and all were graded animals one of which was top class (one of these ended up a miler). He has shown time and again he can change the training method to suit the trip and i have no doubt he has maximised everything for Hootenanny to get the mile (been aimed at this a long time).

Having said all of that there is still a big doubt about staying, price is everything and if he drifts to 9/2 tomorrow over here he becomes a bet for me.

The horse i like is COMMEMORATIVE and he rates a bet at the 10/1 still available. Slowly progressive and the connections won this last year has experience on quick turf and despite making all last time at Newmarket will more likely be sitting behind the pace here from an excellent draw in 4. Has lots of pace inside him as well as the favourite and should get the ideal position if good enough.

War Envoy would be a big danger but the price has gone really these conditions do look ideal. The other American challengers all come out of very slowly run turf races so are impossible to assess despite impressive looking fractions on paper, could be anything but more likely to be blown away by the first quarter here.

Should be a very exciting race to watch to start the meeting and if we could bet on what will be leading two furlongs out we could all retire.

Next up is the Dirt Mile http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/2014-10-31-santa-anita/22:05/winner

Goldencents really looks to good to be true here at anything odds against. Won this last year from 11 (historically impossible) now has the plot draw and to keep it simple is faster than any of the other pace in the race and routed one of the dangers last time. The race does have a nice each way shape but i would want the fav to have some doubts and i cant find any. No bet for me but if someone offers a silly price in the morning take it.

Juvenille Fillies Turf http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/2014-10-31-santa-anita/22:50/winner

Tricky heat with a lot of these having met fairly recently. Qualify really impressed me last time at the Curragh but to win from 14 here is going to have to be miles clear unlikely but with Ryan Moore booked anything is possible.

One of the better US turf trainers Chad Brown has four in here, three of which ran in a grade 3 at Belmont last time.

Lady Eli sat close to a walking pace and showed a lovely turn of foot to remain unbeaten and is rightly at the top of the market. Further back in 4th (Number 10 on the video) was PARTISAN POLITICS who sat right out of the back and had no chance of the pace scenario.

One thing you can be sure is all of these races will be at least fairly run and probably run on the quick side from the front, considering Partisan ran on really well to grab 4th (best could finish given circumstances) the 20/1 looks a massive price on the back of one perceived bad run, with the added bonus of a cracking draw.

The Distaff http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/2014-10-31-santa-anita/23:35/winner

No opinion here got lots of Polytrack/synthetic form against proven lesser dirt form and even an eleven time winner from Peru! Another cup of tea here.

SUGGESTED BETS FOR FRIDAY

£30 win Commemorative 10/1 lads, hills or sportsbook in the Juvenile Turf.

£40 win Partisan Politics 20/1 lads in the Juvenile fillies Turf.

Feel free to wait until nearer race time tomorrow for P Politics might get 25's on the exchange.

Back with Saturdays tomorrow night or possibly earlier.

Great work John, thank you very much, I'll leave it to Tighty to load up.

Good to see the Breeders Cup chatter by horsey, Adzy, Methuselah, Bobby, Ice Cream Marky & various others, thank you.

I think Fred should have an old style Breeders Cup weekend, & collectively punish those poor bookies.

How about you all give us your "Breeders Cup Weekend Nap & NB", & we can all have a fun sweat whilst watching some grand racing?

Go on, who'll be the first to blink?

Incidentally, Horse Racing remains our 2nd most profitable sport, only behind football, with, remarkably, Baseball now in 3rd place, but we don't see too many horse racing bets here these days.

Come on, lets go for it. Be great to see some ideas from the other racing gurus, too, Doobs, Lord Grumpy & BE included, Team Maths, Team Non-Maths, & from the Horse Racing Thread, such as Simonnataur, Trigg, Ommy, as well as the King of Flouncers, Chompy & everyone or anyone else.

I await with baited breath - will it be a deafening silence, or are we gonna do this, together?

Go on, you know you want to.

Brilliant video, first thing I've watched with my tea this morning and it's given me that feel good factor already.
