Been a while since I've put a MMA bet up but if I remember correctly it's a winning sport for us, albeit with a tiny sample, so I thought I may as well start throwing the odd one up here again. I absolutely detest the thought of people losing money backing my stuff so please keep stakes small.

The bet is for Soa Palelei to win in the 1st round of his fight this Friday (UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Bisping) with Walt Harris and it can be backed at 7/4 with 888, Unibet and 32red according to Oddschecker. Actually, do we have any of those? If not, one of the main stream operators may open at the same price as the week goes on. Victor goes 11/10 which is my kind of feeling of the right price.

http://www.oddschecker.com/ufc-mma/soa-palelei-v-walt-harris/round-betting

As a background to my MMA betting, I've been a fan of the sport for many years and have watched thousands of fights, and previously wrote for one of the top UK MMA sites, as well as my work with Betpal. It's still a developing sport and I feel I perhaps have a small edge in knowledge which allows me to pick out some decent bets.

Palelei and Harris are heavyweights, a funny division with very few real quality fighters, and neither of these guys are likely to be challenging the upper echelons of the division any time soon. In fact, Harris was recently released before winning one fight outside the UFC to make his return.

Anyway, that's all mumbo jumbo. Palelei is a worthy favourite, and as short as 4/9 in places. He was won all of his 21 career wins inside the distance so my opinion was that if looking to back the Australian we should look at the sub markets: evens to win by TKO/KO and the aforementioned 7/4 to win in the first round. He has won 17 times by TKO/KO and 16 times in the 1st round throughout his career so that alone has me favouring the R1 bet at the prices. Plus, he's not renowned as the most blessed cardiovascular-wise so if it escapes the first round he may be in trouble.

Harris is a better athlete who has a fair amount of power himself but not technically superb so I see the fight playing out with Palelei taking the American down when he goes for a power strike early and from there Palelei will use his superior ground game to work himself into a position to do damage with his vicious ground and pound. Palelei cuts weight to make the 265lb limit so good luck getting him off you.

The fight is something like 8/13 to finish in the first round so like the 7/4 for Palelei to be the one to do it. Recommend £30.

Morning Scott, & thanks.

We had some difficulty getting on, but managed to get £19.35 on @ 13/8 with PP which is, in itself, quite a result.

Is this televised?

Daily Report

Loss on Month £146.87

Outstanding Bets £4311.26

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=32

A loss of £100 on Sunday

-£50 closing off the Peterborough top six position

-£50 Lola elminated from X-Factor, in the top girl category for which she was the bet as the wild card

ongoing positions

- Rooney no goals for Man U, and he is some distance behind Aguero and Costa in the golden boot standings.

10 - Aguero 9 - Costa 7 - Berahino, Sanchez 6 - Pelle, Sakho 5 - Austin, Chadli, Ulloa

No goals for Lamela either for Tottenham, who reserves his goalscoring form for cup competitions

- Another peerless performance from Hamilton, this time at the US Grand Prix. His fifth win in a row, tenth this season and he became the winning most British F1 driver ever. 24 points ahead with two races to go, he still might lose the title due to double points in the final race in Abu Dhabi

- Ricciardo finished ahead of Bottas in the race for 3rd in the drivers championship. We are still live in that 20-1 bet, but a forlorn hope really

- Basketball. Sunday's relevant results, two losses on two ante post positions

Sacramento Kings 98 LA Clippers 92

Toronto Raptors 102
Miami Heat 107

- NFL

- Our conference and superbowl bet the Philadelphia Eagles won at the Texans 31-21 to go to the head of the NFC East. A collar bone injury to quarterback Nick Foles has ruled him out for a month, but back up Sanchez came in and performed well. Iportantly, he performed far better than Dallas back up Weeden in their loss to the seriously impressive Arizona Cardinals, a loss that was significant for the Eagles

- In the same game lesean McCoy rushed for over a hundred yards and a touchdown

- Ben Roethlisberger broke an NFL record with 6 touchdowns, making it 12 in two games as conference and superbowl bet the Steelers beat divisional rivals the Ravens last night. A very close and tough division this, and a stretch to claim that any team not the Broncos/Patriots/Colts will be the AFC Conference winner, but the Steelers form is encouraging

- How to explain the Chargers losing 37-0 at the Dolphins? A loss was unsurprising, the scale of it eye-opening. Especially if you want Miami to tank, and quick.iThe Broncos loss in New England last night does though keep the fight for the AFC West open for our bet

- that fight is now a three way race with the KC Chiefs coming up on the rails, helped by another jamaal charles touchdown

- The Bengals conceding 23 points at home to the Jags unhelpful for fading hopes of the "concede least points" bet

- Aaron Donald recorded a key 9 yard sack of Colin Kaepernick in the upset of the day, the Rams beating the 49ers 13-10

Other bets, Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Aaron Rodgers on bye weeks

No bets completed yesterday

Watford's 2-1 loss at Birmingham was disappointing and pushed them down to 3rd in the table. It remains extremely tight though, four point seperate the top 8

Bamford scored again for Mddlesborough, his second of the week but remains some way behind Leadbitter, who scored another two last night, in the race for Mddlesborough golden boot

No goals for the likes of Deeney, Vetokele and Michael Smith who played last night

In basketball the Cleveland Cavaliers got blown out 101-82 in Portland

LeBron James scored 11 points, his lowest total since 12/5/08  and just the 16th time in his career he's scored 11 or fewer. The game marked the 1st time since 12/3/03 - LeBron's rookie season - that he scored only 2 points over the last 3 quarters of the game.

I would have needed all that cash to pay out if Arsenal had held on to their 3-0 lead.

One guy had a £100 acc on 10 teams to make £6500 and Arsenal , unfortunately  Wink , let him down

I presume they must have traded at 1.01 on betfair for huge sums.

They were the only team starting odds on who failed to win in the Champions League.
