Anyone read that double-pager in the R.Post today about bookmakers and how they will/won't lay bets?

Absolute comedy some of the quotes.

One of the Irish green rofflers sayed something like "if we want to lay £100k on a horse, we'd rather have 100 regular punters having £1k each than randoms".

Simon Éclair of Coral sayed "Over 99% of our customers are able to get a decent bet on."

Prob misquotes but that was the gist.

We touched on this in a convo on here earlier in the year and think a point raised then is what most of the people in the firms miss. As a punter you only have to upset one person on one market and your account is done for life. These days that includes getting 5/2 about things that end up 7/4 etc, they don't even have to win. If Nick Goff thinks its got ridic(which it clearly has) then he should suggest that someone at his firm gets the job of going thru all restricted accounts and re evaluating the restrictions. I am and I think he would be embarrassed at some of the codes on some accounts. All firms would be ashamed at some of the codings.

I used the example of a German soccer game I traded with another guy that had some big team news and coz neither of us could speak German we had no idea what was going on. He went thru all the punters that bet the winning team and restricted all of them, to this day a load of German punters cannot get a proper bet with Hills because one Monday night in 2005 they had a bet on a live football match and it won and someone got the face on. Can this ever be a sensible long term approach?

As for Simon Clare, don't think there can be a more embarrassing man in the industry now, got no credibility left at all imo.

Perhaps Simon Clare should do it, and earn his money, instead of just being a snidey, smug prick!

Fair play to coral's guys for actually agreeing to talk about it to different levels of honesty in both the article and on twitter.  Numerous firms clearly declined to comment at all as they must have been asked for the article.  Namely bald and 365.  Amazing how hard it is 99% of the time to get certain PR men and their ego's out of the RPost on a daily basis.  Yet when one of the few serious subjects in the game is debated these weasals are nowhere to be seen.  Quelle surprise.

NBA Friday Review

Wins for Cleveland over Toronto on the road (Nets/Knicks also lost in their division so not too much relative damage done) and Spurs over Memphis in the key South West divisional battle on the road. (Tim Duncan had an extremely rare triple double with 14 points 10 boards, 10 assists and 2 blocks).   Spurs and Cavs really have cranked it up a level the last 2 weeks and are starting to look like the solid favs for their respective divisions/conferences they are.  Dallas had a shock loss at home to the Suns.

Spurs have played 19 games so far (15-4) but only played 7 of those at home.  Their next 4 games they will be big odds on for all 4 games then they have another run of really tough games over the xmas period (Portland twice, Memphis twice, NO twice, Dallas, Clippers, OKC and Houston) before a really easy January schedule.

http://espn.go.com/nba/standings/_/group/3

Assists - Rondo had 16, Lawson 10 and Wall 12 to extend Rondo's lead.  Paul didn't play.

http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/assists/sort/avgAssists/year/2015/seasontype/2

MVP - Davis didn't play

ROY - Noel 11 points 10 rebounds 2 steals and 2 assists in a home loss to okc.  Wiggins 11 points, 3 boards and 3 assists in an overtime home loss to the Rockets.    Parker 14 points 3 rebounds 3 assists and 2 steals in a home blowout of the Heat.  The Bucks are massively over achieving this season as a team (11-10 record) and this has to help the case for Parker imo for rookie of the year.

Ooh, a triple double!

I recall asking the much missed (here) Jeff Kimber about that, & he explained it to me.

Good report, thank you.

Bookies give longest odds to date on an overall majority at GE2015. CON now 11/2 LAB 9/2. Hung Parliament 1/2

for the cameron bet, realistically, we need the Tories to be the party with the largest number of seats, to be forming the coalition

going to be a tight one!

Possible football bet today in FA Cup.

Accrington are best priced 9/4 with Spoilsport or 11/5 with Billy.

Accrington have an excellent home record and whilst they are in L2 and playing a L1 side, Yeovil in the relegation zone, poor away from home and scored one goal in six games.

I really like Accrington here and recommend £20 on.

Tighty,

Today's "Road to Riches" on BE is a Silly Cricket recommendation.

If Fred is able to, (the article is feee to view) can Fred bet on it?

if so, invest a modicum please.

Dear Sequin corresepondent

Just about to go out for the day  but i had the following thoughts

- tonight's score is part formed by a waltzathon. 6 for the winners, 1 for last etc. Does that form part of the highest score betting?

and if so, doesn't that give a big advantage to the male pros who can lead their partners round, look good etc etc?

- if we assume so, from my research of wed warm up and friday panel i would like to profer that Ms Flack is doing a traditional Argentine Tango and to my mind could top the scoring again. good music, crowd pleasing dance and a very traditional interpretation that i think the judges will like

- Mrs Bridge is doing salsa, which to my mind is notoriously tough to dance well, and its a very quick one. seems quite a challenge to me

- the Lannister twins are doing the chacha to love shack, which has to be a threat to be top

you can see QF training at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006m8dq
http://www.oddschecker.com/tv/strictly-come-dancing/highest-scorer

i am sure tikay would welcome your thoughts

Err, yes, can't wait.

I'm torn between Ballroom Dancing & Silly Cricket today.

Toasty life.

If we have any Strictly stuff for Fred, ideally before 4.30pm, please, as I'm up the allotment tonight.

Morning, Fred. Apologies. Have been being pampered. Will post my thoughts well before 4.30 but credit to Corals if they've responded to my jibes.

Thanks Rick.

Tighty is AWOL for the day now, so he's left me in charge of the shop, God help us.

There have been no negative vibes to that, so Fred has invested £20 @ 11/5 with Wm Hill, thank you, & good luck us.

St Johnstone away to St Mirren tomorrow looks a reasonable bet.  St Johnstone are slowly getting players back from injury James McFadden has 2 in his last 2 and seems to be getting himself upto match fitness after a slow start.  From what I have heard and seen St Mirren are an absolute sham.  I backed them pre-season for relegation as the manager for me is one of the worse, I have never liked him going back to his days as a number 2 at Celtic.  In addition to that they are without probably their most experienced defender as he serves final game of a ban.  They are a team lacking confidence and a number of first team regulars are out injured they have managed just 13 goals this season.

7/5 with Mountains seems big and is defo out of line with other books.   Worth £25.

I'd also throw a £10 at 27/10 with VC on to win to nil.
