Is MVP announced before the voting in Comeback POTY etc?

same time, day before the superbowl

"The AP NFL MVP award is voted upon by sportswriters at the end of the regular season, before the playoffs, though the results are not announced to the public until the day before the Super Bowl."

Cheers, is there a reason Rodgers can't win MVP and comeback player?

Cheers, is there a reason Rodgers can't win MVP and comeback player?

good question

"The National Football League Comeback Player of the Year Award refers to a number of awards that are given to an NFL player who has shown perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, a severe injury, or simply poor performance"

i think the answer must be no, there is no reason why not

the last five winners are

2009 Tom Brady, QB, New England[21]
2010 Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia[22]
2011 Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit[23]
2012 Peyton Manning, QB, Denver[24]
2013 Philip Rivers, QB, San Diego[25]

the last 5 MVPs are

2009    Peyton Manning (4)    Indianapolis Colts    Quarterback
2010    Tom Brady (2)    New England Patriots    Quarterback
2011    Aaron Rodgers    Green Bay Packers    Quarterback
2012    Adrian Peterson    Minnesota Vikings    Running back
2013    Peyton Manning (5)    Denver Broncos    Quarterback

so obviously a) tal was on the right lines thinking QB for a high profile team and b) names crop up on both lists

Some good tipping over the weekend, wp chaps. I notice Peter-27 put up 5 tips, 2 of which were very close and one of which won at nice prices. I got on 4 of them and missed 1. Bet no-one can guess which one I missed!

Oztumer and Beautyman in midfield, and back in the diamond, made a big difference at the weekend. Also, Maddison will be back, playing behind CMS and McLean, so Preston will do well to shut us out.

At the other end, we're a million to shut them out. Could be an old-style shootout.

I notice Oddschecker had set up a new market for 2015 SPOTY, and they tipped up Anthony Joshua at 33-1.

Based on some of the comments made on here today, as OC state, as long as Eddie H doesn't keep him under wraps next year, the field of candidates looks thin, and 33s seems a fair price, seeing as so many sports we have decent candidates in dont garner much SPOTY support. Boxing does OK, and pretty sure Hatton was placed the same year Calzaghe won it.

Tenner at 33s?

I would be fairly surprised if he got a shot at a world title next year (maybe a 20-1 shot to challenge) and I think he would need to do that and win if he was to be spoty.  Surely a European Champ etc wouldn't be able to win it given how badly Froch polled last night.

He's 40/1 with Scuy, but I'd still rather have Amir Khan at 33/1, who, if he beat Floyd Mayweather in the Summer, would become a megastar. He won't beat him, obviously, but it's a generous price IMO.

I've been wrong before, mind.

What would you price him to beat Maywheather?  I'd say we 33/1 to win that fight.  Khan isn't in the same league as Money.

Khan is certainly not a 33/1 shot to beat Mayweather but he is probably a 11/2 shot and maybe 2/1 to get the fight which makes him nearly 20-1 before you factor in what price he is to win spoty if he does all of that.  Its probably not awful tbh and I actually half fancy him for the Mayweather fight if he gets it.  Think he matches up well.
