Sorry mate, can't really overcome a 7 in the last round of a birdie fest. Went from 9/2 to 50/1 in one hole.

Thanks for the tip of Dumoulin. Got on at Boyles so I got paid place money for 4th. Might inspire me to follow cycling this season again. Used to love it before I got tired of all the drugs in the sport.
Well done, mate. It sure was a terribly exciting stage on Saturday. Pity Dumoulin only ended up in 4th place. Might inspire me to get a Boylesports account.

No-one else is going to start this thread, so I'm going to start it myself.
Our hero is teetering on the brink of getting back into sports gambling, but is resisting because he reckons, deep down, he's a mug punter.
So I reckon with all the good sports betting punters (and Boldie too) on here, we can tun Tiikay from ice cream to shark.
The idea is for him to start with a bank of £1000, and for people to regular posters to chip in with selections with a maximum stake of 5% of his current bank.
No more than one selection per poster per week I think and make a post with a cogent argument as to why the bet should be made.
I guess I'll start.
£40 Michel Hazanavicus Best Director Oscar @ 5/8 bwin
This really is a no-brainer bet. The Artist is a stunning piece of work, and has received hugely positive reviews and is definitely the sort of movie which will appeal to the Academy. Instead of backing it to win Best Picture at a prohibitive 3/10, take the bigger odds about the director triumphing. 8 of the last 9 Best Picture winners have also scooped the Best Director award. The major danger is Scorsese obviously. But he won his Oscar (finally) in 2007 with The Departed, and from the consensus reviews I have read, Hugo is not another Godfather. And the 3 d aspect is unlikely to appeal to traditionalists.
I think Hazanavicus will be considerably shorter come Oscars night and is a great bet at 5/8
That was where it all began.

Special thanks go to.....
Camel, who started the whole thing.
Mere, who still maintains the Spready with precision, & grumpy efficiency.
Tighty for those wonderfully written Daily Reports, which help glue the whole thing together.
All the kind souls who place bets for Fred.
Everyone who has given us bets & sweats.

Sadly, it was somewhat of a fractious year, & we have lost some of our best Elders as a result.
They are all much missed, & maybe one day some will return.
Big thanks to them anyway.

We were BANNED by Spoilsports & Satan
We are restricted almost to the point of being banned by BetEveryDay & The Green Irish Crew.
We are regularly restricted by Red Shouty Man, BaldFred & The Nanny Sportsbook.
Occasionally restricted by BMU

Thanks Mr Tractor.
Oddly, the point I have enboldened has attracted much negativity, which quite surprised me. The price of success, I suppose.
But yes, follow it blind & it's the greatest freeroll ever thanks to all our contributors, past & present.

Happy Birthday Fred.
Try and get you a small token birthday winner.
I have been following Iron Butterfly too long, and it may pop up today, but for these purposes,
Call me Vic, 2.50 Ludlow.
Looks like a typical slow burner for Tom George being brought to the boil. The extra half mile against some mainly out of form competition should give us a good run.

Daily Report
Profit on Month £60.35
Outstanding Bets £3637.13
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=34
a loss of £115 yesterday
Never have i seen a bigger choke in rugby than i saw with Toulouse over the past fortnight. Winners of 4 out of 4 in their ERC pool group, looking like world-beaters they then sleepwalked through a home tonking by Bath and then played such uninspiring and gutless stuff yesterday against Montpellier it was horrible to watch. Up 20-9, needing to win to ensure a quarter final spot they lost 27-26 to exit with a series of disinterested gallic shrugs.
-£45 from the each way bet and top try scorer bets. I have created a special page in my colour tabbed betting ringbinder especially for them.
Palmer -£40 in the USPGA golf won by Haas. He smacked a promising position into the water and finished outside the top 10
-£10 Ferrer was beaten 6-3 6-3 6-3 by Nishikori overnight
-£20 Burkina Faso exited the AFCON with one draw from three games, one goal for over 50 shots on target and no goals for Mr Pitriopa
ongoing
Raonic is in a fifth set currently against Lopez 3-3 on serve
in NCAA basketball Duke beat St Johns 77-68 to go to a 17-2 record. Mike Krzyzewski became the first coach in Division I history with 1,000 wins

in the NBA the Cavs beat Oklahoma City 108-98 behind 34 points from Lebron James. Cleveland's sixth win in a row

the
dallas mavs
lost to the pelicans 109-106
the
San Antonio Spurs

the

we have Stoke at Rochdale tonight in the FA Cup. The competition opening up means they are currently 5th favourites

11 runner 5/1 the field hcap 1/5 123 is literally the worst possible race to back ew in with firms. If we are going to back it to place just have the place on bf and win only with the firms.
