Seems too obvious but has there ever been a budget where beer wasn't said? I know it is 1/10 but just before an election surely he freezes beer duty and mentions it as a sweetener for the working man? Hills have gone 1/20 from 1/10. Just find it hard to see how beer isn't mentioned alongside the usual other duties late in the speech.

at the risk of incurring the wrath of your sparring partner, its a certainty isn't it?

even if he doesn't change duty on beer, wine and spirits one way or the other he has to mention that there's no change

Dover won 2-1 last night and are now 10th in the Conference Premier, 16 points clear of relegation with 8 or 9 games to go. Have to say I am stunned with how our season has turned around - this looked a complete shoe-in after the first few weeks of the season.

Smaller bet, Tighty: £15-20

Rumours abound that there will be a significant tax relief announcement, spurred on by the OBR's surprisingly positive forecast yesterday. Hard-working families might be worth a press, on the assumption that the income tax threshold is the most likely. £20-25 on that if we can, please.

sorry its gone 6/4

price moving shorter faster than i can keep up

Ladbrokes at 7/4 limited us to not a tenner, not a fiver but £2 on finish the job. i declined to finish the job of completing the bet

We did however get one bet on

18 Mar 2015 - 2015 UK Budget - Osborne The Wordsmith - 2015 March Budget

Hard Working Families @ EVS

Stake : £10.00
Estimated Returns : £
20.00
Transaction Reference:
O/0457483/0001247/F
Total Stake : £10.00

please tell us later if it is mentioned, i'd tather not listen or buy the FT for the transcript tomorrow

I just don't understand why you would even offer a price like 1/10.  I have watched a fair few budgets and can't ever remember beer not being spoken especially in a pre election budget.

Similar with NHS i don't get that price (1/10) although he could say 'national health service' all speech and not 'NHS' and we get done on a technicality.

I certainly wouldn't want to lay a near £200/£900 double on those two being said.

Ancelotti still 6-4 with Scuy for next Man City manager. That will soon go, with Guardiola almost certainly a non-runner and Simeone seemingly about to extend his stay with Atletico.

"Simeone’s sister and agent Natalia was in attendance at the Calderon for the match and revealed afterwards that there will soon be "good news" regarding her brother’s contract renewal.

"She told Spanish state TV: "Surrounding the renewal of Simeone at the club, there will be good news in the next few days. The fans went home happy tonight and they will be happy again soon."

Budget today. Time to get the buzzword bingo card out. This is the Right Honourable's final budget speech before the election. A smattering of the boxes he's ticked, a sprinkling of good cheer, a soupçon of what might come and good old fashioned dollop of the modern day, meaningless anti-rhetoric the politicians love. Eyes down, look in.

Whilst I like HARD WORKING FAMILIES at even money with Ladbrokes (he's likely to play a few of his greatest hits, after all) and FINISH THE JOB at 7/4 with the same bookie for a bit of subliminal election messaging, the one I really like is HS2 at 3/1 with Hills.

Osborne is widely believed to announce HS3 today, so there seems a logical reason to mention the success of the previous development in order to sell the next. Obviously, we need the exact phrase to win.

I've been through the transcripts of the last few budgets and Autumn statements and the odds are fairly reflective of those. I think the other factors - particularly the Greatest Hits angle - offer us a little value.

Would recommend £25 on HS2 and whatever amount close to that you can get with the others (it's Ladbrokes, so I'm assuming a tenner would be an achievement). Would it let you do a £10 double on the Ladbrokes pair?

Could you advise on HS2 at 2-1 please?

NHS must be a raving certainty to be mentioned in the budget given the opening 10 minutes of PMQ's.

The only way "beer" isn't mentioned is if we get a statement like:

"there will be no increase in duty for all alcohols" and there is actually a chance this could happen. so 1/10 may be about right

And no....I don't want to lay the bet Smiley

sad to see Arsenal go out and us pretty much left with no teams left in CL, but how frustrating was it to see them just pass the ball around in the last minutes without getting it into the box

Standard. Sad

There really are some miserable old gits about.

I think I last saw Mertasacker contribute in a game back in October. Sad Sad Sad

HAHAHA. Missed this earlier.

Anyway, no matter. Ralph is probably on his way to see his favourite band, STATUS QUO, as he sits on the coach toasting Arsenal, as once again we meet expectations and depart at the final 16 stage for the 52nd year running.

Still, that's more than enough to keep the old fellas happy.

Personally, I would like to see us win something significant before I pop me clogs!! Grin

Tighty - I think we can oppose Yorkshire in the County Championship this year.

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/county-championship-div-1/county-championship-division-1/winner

Short priced favourites but this morning announced that they lose Lyth and Rashid to England for April and May. Lyth won player of the year last year scoring +1400 runs at an average of 70.

Rashid took 40 wickets at an average of 25 and scored +500 runs at an average of 43.

Add onto that the continued absences of Balance, Root, Plunkett and Bairstow. A visit from New Zealand and then The Ashes will keep this lot busy.

I don't have a suggestion as such although I like Hampshire - anyone got any thoughts? EW paying 3 places in a 9 runner market.

Afternoon all. I've been indisposed again. Hmmmprh.

Wow, never realised this, what a scorcher.

Deeney scored both goals to go to 19 for the season, 4 behind Murphy and two clear of third

just a quick copy and paste of the Deeney bets, as they are corkers

Championship goalscorer   Deeney   50/1   20   £10 e/w 1/4 1,2,3,4
Championship goalscorer   Deeney   40/1   20   £10 e/w 1/4 1,2,3,4

Deeney has now scored in the last six games, seven goals

Who put that bet up - was it Marky?

i would caution against being too negative about yorkshire

they have a fantastic academy and there is a lot of depth coming through

they missed ballance, root and plunkett all last year and never missed a beat

without lyth they have lees and fisher etc etc

not saying they will win it, and haven't looked at the LVCC much yet (some preview nights start next week) but its not as simple as losing a few to england and they'll automatically be worse

without even opening up oddschecker if i had to pluck a winner i would say notts

wessels, hales, james taylor, brendan taylor on a kolpak, samit, chris read, philander as overseas, gurney, franks, fletcher etc going to be a fearsome line up

Domestic cricket? Happy days. We had goood fun with some of these last year, so let's get involved if the bets look good.

I like any form of cricket where the players dress properly, i.e.,  in whites.  CBA with the silly stuff.
