I know you didn't really tip it Tighty, but old fred favourite Kool Kompany has just won the Craven from the front.

at 14-1.

i remembered the horse from last year, no more than that

100-1 quote for the 2000 out there currently

I don't think that 100/1 was anything other than a mistake/ stale price.

Koral are currently 33/1 each way which seems big given it has some solidform in the book from last year, has obviously trained on to some extent, and won fairly easily.  Just don't see how it can be a bad bet.

You'll see it as soon as you go on the mobile site and suggest at least 20 e/w.

They interviewed Hughes after the race and he suggested the French or German Guineas was likely to be the target.

would you (both) like me to wait?

presumably the 33/1 reflects some NR risk.

Give it a miss.  If that is what was said probably not worth the risk.  Think they are mad though.

Edit.  Too late for me obv.

Hughes said something along the lines of the horse needs an easy lead and plenty of room. Neither of which he is likely to get at Newmarket.

If the race cuts up I suppose they could try and get some place money, but you very rarely get small fields in the Guineas and it will be the worst classic ever if he's good enough to win.

The NHL play offs start for us tonight

i might need rinswun's help here, as it isn't a sport i know

they play for the Stanley cup

a small understated trophy

http://www.nhlplayoffsbracket.com/2015/index.php

we have Minnesota Wild who play the St Louis Blues over a maximum of seven games

"The St. Louis Blues finished first in the Central division, earning 109 points. The Minnesota Wild finished as the Western Conference's first wild-card, earning 100 points. This is the first playoff meeting for these two teams. The teams split this year's four-game regular season series, with each team winning once at home and once on the road."

i assume we are underdogs?

According to the books we are underdogs - 13/10 best price. I think that's factoring the Blues having the home advantage over 7 games. If the Wild win tonight, I think that price flip flops.

In terms of talent I think the two teams are very similar. I believe that the Wild have the edge in defense and in goal but the Blues have the edge up front as they have more offensive depth. However, again in my opinion, I believe the Wild's roster and system is built for the playoffs and their aggressive forechecking and tight gap control will enable them to smoother the Blues offense. I think the Wild will triumph in 6.

Easy to get carried away after a victory, but plenty of the big stables have enough ammo yet to be fired in anger to warrant keeping the powder dry atm.

could we have a small value play on Rajasthan in the IPL please?

14/1 e/w 1/3 1,2 Betfrd

17.5 on Betfair

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/indian-premier-league/winner

8 teams, top 4 make the quarters, round robin group stage, they play each other home and away

Rajasthan are the outsiders of 8.

Look at this line up and then ask why?

Rahane
Nair
S Watson
S Smith
Samson
Faulkner
Binny
Southee
Bhatia
Tambe
Kulkarni

Rahane, Smith and the rest of the top six is a competitive line up
they have Faulkner for the death bowling
A touch short in bowling depth, but its a steady line up probably lacking a real match winner especially amongst the spinners

obviously the big boys like CSK, KKR, RCB, Mumbai have a lot of "star power" and in terms of competitive balance this is especially important in the Indian players, as each team has to play 4 overseas only

but we're getting 14-1+ in an 8 horse race in a randomising format where any team can beat any other....we have two of the world's best batsmen, two more world cup winning all-rounders and a decednt shot at being competitive

a column out last week went through every team and wrote as follows

"Rajasthan Royals 16.00

Strengths: In Shane Watson, the captain, Steve Smith and James Faulkner the Royals boast the core of Australia World Cup winning squad. They are another side who are well balanced having hitters at the top, middle and bottom, death bowlers and an army of spinners.

Weaknesses: Although they have an army of spinners, most of them are legspinners and it would be nice if they had a star twirler to complete the line-up. But then they are 16.00.

Squad: Shane Watson(c), Abhishek Nayar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ankit Nagendra Sharma, Ben Cutting, Deepak Hooda, Dhawal Kulkarni, Dishant Yagnik, James Faulkner,Karun Nair, Pravin Tambe, Rahul Tewatia, Rajat Bhatia, Sanju Samson(wk), Steven Smith, Stuart Binny, Tim Southee, Vikramjeet Malik, Chris Morris, Juan Theron, Barinder Singh Saran, Dinesh Salunkhe, Sagar Trivedi, Pardeep Sahu"

https://betting.betfair.com/cricket/indian-premier-league---ipl/ipl-2015-squads-players-teams-060415-194.html"

the betfair price is out over a point since. ignored, under-rated and not particularly fashionable a pick, but therein lies the opportunity

if you look through the squads you'll see its a very competitive heat, probably more competitive than a range of prices 5-2 to 14-1 suggests

small stuff, a £10 in the win market and £10 each way

a value stab at a tough event to bet with much confidence

That is looking like an inspired bet Rich, and we are each way, so every chance.

This is looking like a great bet Tighty.

I am very happy currently with my Steven Smith top runscorer (28/1 ew) and Imran Tahir leading wicket taker ( 22/1EW).

Bahrain GP this weekend

Here are my pre-weekend bet suggestions:

Points Finish - Max Verstappen @ EVS with Bvictory. Max has already shown he is one of the best on the grid. Given that Red Bull/Toro Rosso/Sauber and Lotus have very similar paced cars right now, Max will score points if he doesn't have some sort of incident. EVS is too high. Suggest £25.

Points Finish - Marcus Ericsson @ 6/5 with Bvictory. Marcus should be EVS here given he's in the Sauber. I can see why they've placed him above evens, his results haven't been as good as you would have thought so far this season, however this has all been to circumstances outside his control - and that's what makes this value (albeit slim value). Suggest £10.

That's all I've got for now. Will keep you all updated as usual Smiley

Afternoon Tighty.

Betfred have boosted a price for tonight's rugby league. They are 5/4 for Wigan to be winning at HT and FT while everyone is odds on. I am not at all convinced with Warrington and their 80-0 thrashing of Wakefield does not count for much.

Suggest £20 Wigan HT and FT @ 5/4 with Betfred.

We are halfway there with this, Wigan lead 16-14 at half time.

Been proper swingy swingy though. It went....

0-10

12-10

12-14

16-14

We just need to hold now. Really enjoyable game to watch so far.

Rajasthan Royals in the gentlemen's changing room in the pavilion, shortly after the match. Didn't even have time to take their playing vestments off:
