Ladbrokes answered a question during the game on Twitter about the Liverpool goal. It said it had been settled as a Coutinho goal, but this prompted some derision amongst the punters.

Does the Dubious Goals Panel look at FA Cup games?

Paddy has emailed me back to say Coutinho gets the goal, so no dice.

Sad

Hi [Mr Tal]

Thank you for contacting Paddy Power Customer Support.

Unfortunately we are not paying out on Benteke as on the official results page states the first goal was awarded to Coutinho.

Below is a link to this results page:

Apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If you have any further queries please visit our Help Centre

Kind Regards,

Really irks me when people use the word unfortunately in that way. Is it unfortunate that you're using your discretion not to pay out? No. Ironically, the scorecast on Benteke/2-1 at 100/1 could have been said to have been fortunate in another way but I'm sure that wasn't what was intended. Rubs.

Great story, Mr Womble. I liked this one, too:

Cantlow will not feature among bet365 Gold Cup entries leaving AP McCoy with one possible JP ride - Gallant Oscar.

Snooker.

It was a late game but young Anthony Mcgill won his 1st round game v Stephen Maguire (were TFT on the latter for an e/w overall win?) by 10 frames to 9.

He showed maturity when up against it as Maquire fought back to win 5 frames on the trot to set up the decider.

Mcgill was runner up in junior pot black back in 2006. He lost to Stuart Carrington who also makes his crucible debut on Thursday against Judd Trump.

My horse Selby just about got over the line with a 10, 9 win over Kurt Maflin. Phew.

I hope to watch most of the 1st round matches to see if anyone else catches my eye, but I think McGill could be worth a small value bet next round depending on price.

My snooker claim to fame (very very thin)

I cannot recall the actual year but I would guess it was late 80's/early 90's. The Championships were mainly covered by the BBC2 and every year had a 'shot of the championship' competition. The reveal was done live at the time and this particular year there were only 17 correct entries out of the thousands sent in. I knew I was in the 17 with the correct order. There were 3 prizes......

I didnt win.

Struggling McLaren-Honda expect a significant step forward in performance at the next grand prix.

http://bbc.in/1OxSS4c

the challenge to our <155 points for the season spread starts then

I've no doubt that Jensen will be hoping for a "significant step forward", too.

I read somewhere that yesterday was the first time since 2003 he has missed starting a F1 GP. No idea if that's true, but if it is, it's a quite remarkable stat.

Princess Alice will not cost the bookmakers £500k. It might cost them £5k. At a push.
