Isn't here an argument that last night makes it less likely Bilic gets tinned? As long as they aren't in danger they'll keep him and not being in Europa helps that.
Agreed.
I'm pretty sure the decision to field such a weak team last night when in what was clearly a tie they could have won if they had tried would have been approved by Messrs Sullivan & Gold.
With the Stadium move getting ever nearer, retaining their EPL status - and the financial rewards for that - is all that matters to them, I'd suggest.
I'd be against them in any other side event, too - League Cup, FA Cup etc. It's all about staying in the EPL for them.
That's my read, anyway.
I wonder when attitudes will change.
Another season in Europe like last season will mean England will be very close or may even lose the 4th champions league spot to Italy.
With countries like Portugal massively improving their club rankings as well I suspect the premier league will realise when it is to late.
The decision by Scudamore to have some Europa league teams who finish early hours Friday morning to have midday kick offs Sunday of course does not help.... Every other league caters the fixtures for the teams representing them in Europe.
Why would they change though? Obviously the CL teams are trying and prob cant do worse but most EL teams dont have a hope of CL competition and nothing else is worth distracting from the league. Why would teams like west ham etc care whether we have 4 champions league spots? It hasnt seemed to be a problem with TV money that we have been behind the spanish and german leagues in eurpean performance lately. Like most supporters of PL also rans if my teams in europe I want them to give it a go, but have seen the negative it has on our league performance, so can see why we dont always try, but certainly dont care which of the big four didnt get in the CL because we put out our youth team.

Very good.
It must have taken some assembling, all that stuff. Some OCD stat geek must have loved being given the job of compiling that.
Oh, & it seems I share a birthday with Laurent Koscielny. Not the same year, though.

It hasnt seemed to be a problem with TV money that we have been behind the spanish and german leagues in eurpean performance lately. Like most supporters of PL also rans if my teams in eurpoe I want them to give it a go, but have seen the negative it has on our league performance, so can see why we dont always try, but certainly dont care which of the big four didnt get in the CL because we put out our youth tram.
At the moment they don't but it will also lessen the Europe league spots and make the draws a lot harder.
I do not get the mentality of trying very hard in the league to qualify for a competition and then treating it like the league cup.
Yes it is harder playing in the league after Europe league games but it is not impossible.

Greatest Forum thread ever.
Must have taken decent 6 figures out of the bookies satchels easily in the past 3 and a bit years. TYVM Camel for setting it up. Proud to have been a small part of it.
Just before we move on & head, hopefully, for 8,000 & beyond.....
7,000 pages
105,010 replies
blonde is in it's 11th year, Fred it's 4th year, but Fred dwarfs all other threads by a country mile.
And all down to Mr Camel, who is particularly adept at starting threads which have longevity. I was not totally thrilled when Camel started it, I had quit sports betting 10 or 12 years earlier & had no desire to return to it, so I just went along with it, expecting it to fizzle out in a few weeks. 4,968 bets later, it's still going........
The way the community work here to help each other, & offer up stuff, is most unusual in this day & age. I genuinely regret it every time we lose a good regular, & I hope that, in time, most or at least some of them will return. We need them all.
It's the advice, rather than the tips as such, which is the real beauty of Fred, so a big thank you to all the Elders - make your own minds up who they are - for the help.
As to the numbers that really matter, as of right now, according to Mere's spready.......
4,969 bets
£150,029 wagered.
£8,608.89 profit.
5.74% ROI.
So readers could follow Fred blind, to suggested stakes, & be over £8,000 to the good. It's quite hard to imagine why anyone would not, it's free to view.
So if only 12 or 13 people followed Fred blind, that's £100,000 we have taken off the bookies. The actual figure must be over a third of a million quid. It's unbelievable, really.
Special thanks to Mere & Tighty, of course - without both of them, Fred's dead baby, Fred's dead. How Tighty assembles those Daily Reports in such an amusing & informative manner is beyond me.

I think it is the different views & opinions which are the key to it.
The maths boys get it in the neck from time to time from specialists in various sports, but both views are fine, they don't both have to be incorrect, & blending their efforts is why we do well. We need maths boys, & non-maths boys, combine their expertise & we are on a good thing.

Can I ask what is a good ROI % on sports betting, what would the successful punters like Arbboy, Dubai and Chompy hope to see over a large sample size in terms of %?

Half an hour of Buttler and Stokes would be rather nice viewing.

I totally agree with TK - I love to read this thread and the views of all contributors.
The occasional (regular at times) fall out between some who cannot or do not want to understand the views of others makes me squirm.
Alas Im no maths expert (took 5 shots to pass my O level - poor teacher and algebra and stuff was so alien to me) and my views on racing which is the only sport I tend to have a bet on is so worthless compared to the masters on here.
I do love to attempt to read form but as there are so many other factors influencing the sport I dont bet big and its for fun - especially when I get to go to the races with my lovely partner.
Re the above and form I was at Carlisle races many years ago when the superb trainer Mary Reveley was running two horses - one a reasonably backed short priced fav and the other at
/7s. By chance I had been watching the the horses in the pre parade ring and noticed the stable handlers of the two horses collecting money from others - not a great deal of money it seemed but as racing staff were not paid huge sums it looked significant to them. I followed the one with the money to the bookies and she bet the not so fancied runner - which was too good for me to ignore - and it duly won. Obviously the fav was one the shrewdies felt was best form wise but maybe just maybe the stable staff felt their other horse was good enough and better value. i know the reverse is true and stable information can be so wrong but hey ho thats life.
Anyway my ramblings over and if brave enough I will try to put some of my thoughts down for perusal.
Good luck to the thread for the future and hope all who view and participate respect the opinions of others.
Cheers

It's a gift, Ralph, I taught you well.
Still, at 333-8, if the England innings finishes in the next 10 minutes, we can bowl the Aussies out before Lunch.

^^^This.
As someone who is a recent recruit to the sports betting game, this thread has been invaluable to me and has allowed me to become a competent punter at a much more accelerated rate than the average joe.
The rate of my ice-cream bets has gone way down as I've taken on board the shrewd advice offered by the pros on here.
I can't thank you enough and long may it continue.
