Tonight's lower league travellers:

19:45 QPR (2/5) Draw (41/10) Carlisle (33/4)
19:45 Swansea (2/7) Draw (11/2) York City (14)
19:45 Sunderland (8/15) Draw (7/2) Exeter (6)

The seedings of League Cup mean the home teams are obviously shorter for the bigger leagues.

Still if we are considering the lower league travelling angle.

From decoding interviews I'm pretty sure Troy Deeney won't start at Deepdale (or indeed be in the squad) and some of the guys who haven't had much of a chance yet will get a match to shine.  This will still be a strong team as we have 30 seniors (several of whom are trying to avoid being shipped out this week).

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-cup/preston-v-watford/anytime-goalscorer

2 players who aren't being shipped out but should get starts are Almen Abdi and Stephen Berghuis.  Both will play I think behind Vydra/Ighalo or even Jakubiak in a 4-2-3-1 so will be urged to get forward.  Abdi is very under-rated here by the market (half the odds in places) especially.

Recommend:

£5 Almen Abdi first goal at 16-1 (B365)
£20 Almen Abdi anytime scorer 6-1 (B365)
£5 Berghuis 1st goal at 10-1 (B365)

The reason I'm chucking Berghuis in is because I don't think he can last full game yet so will be very keen to impress in his 45/60 mins.  No sure there is value in him on anytime market.

i suspected as much, but we cannot access the bet365 prices fully

1
Almen Abdi
   Preston v Watford
To Score at Any Time    25/08/2015    6/1
   None    To Run
Stake 8.33    To Return 58.31

the FGS are limited to pennies so we'll go with Abdi anytime

That will do.  Just looking at the other price B365 are quite out of line with almost everyone else, so worth people having a dabble if they are in a position to do so.

I would have made Usain a big fav for this surely given the anti drugs bbc stance throughout these championships.  Amazed he is a 5/2 shot behind Serena.  If Steve Cram is anything to do with the voting then Bolt will have already won it for 'saving his sport'.

Surely Spieth must be in the running? Ticks all the role-model boxes the Beeb love and had a sensational year.

Come to think of it any views on Watford at around 9/5?

Changes a plenty but due to the ludicrous squad size will be something like:

Arlauskis

Paredes/Hoban
Angella
Britos
Holebas

Watson
Ake

Berghuis
Abdi
Diamanti/Forestieri

Vydra/Forestieri

Feels like nearly all of those players would get into Preston's first team - this is no youth side.

9/5 seems okay to me.

BFSB gone back up with 9/4 Bolt.  Looks worthy of a decent bet imo.  Can't have Serena as fav in this market.  How is it voted for?

The BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year[1] is an award presented at the annual BBC Sports Personality of the Year award ceremony. The award is presented to a non-British sportsperson considered to have made the most substantial contribution to a sport in that year. The award is decided by a panel of over 30 sporting journalists. Each panellist votes for their top two choices; their first preference is awarded two points, and their second preference is awarded one point. The winning sportsperson has the most total points. In the case of a points tie, the sportsperson chosen as first preference by the most panellists is the winner. If this is also a tie the award is shared.[2]

does this make bolt/serena/djok or speith more likely?

dunno

anyway this can be on or off thread depending on consensus but i wanted to take price while it was up

If Serena wins grand slam at US Open surely she has to win it?  All 4 titles in same year.  Her odds for this are very similar to her winning the tournament which raises a question.  What is more likely - her failing to win in New York and still winning this.  Or her winning in New York and someone else still winning this?
