What do we think of the price on Arsenal tonight?
Generally around 2.4.
I thought I was going to see closer to 2.1. I think Ramsey is relishing his more central role and Arsenal are really starting to click, but they have had two recent premierleague games against Sunderland and Villa though which may highlight their strengths too favourably. In contrast to Man City who barely got over the line against Swansea recently and generally have been suffering poor form, with the absence of Kompany appearing to be crucial, but they welcome back Aguero tonight.
Any views on this as I am unsure but I think the price on the Arsenal win looks generous.
there is a bet365 offer tonight too

Are we having any bets on the Eng v SA series coming up?
Cook just hit a century in the 2ND warm up game, and I'm sure he usually does well over there doesn't he? could be worth a look at top run scorer if the odds are agreeable?
Any other thoughts from anyone?
i went for Root in my series preview.
its 6/1 bar Cook and Root, and i thought james taylor looked like a lively alternative at 6/1
should play all four tests
cook v root is really a call on the pitches and the new ball. any greenery and cook is in the firing line. obviously could easily win this market though

Indeed. I was looking to see if it was value anyway before you effectively get odds of 3.4, for the bet, to see if my money was best served backing City or the draw, or any other market in fact, but without help or mixed views on it, I will bet the Gunners win.

Cook averages 40 v Saffers home and away, so he's a solid option. Negative is he'll have to face up to the new ball. With Root, negative is he has never played against them, new conditions etc, but career average of 55 means he's fully capable of having a good series. Taylor biggest danger, but a big ask when he's just re-establishing himself. Same applies to Hales and Compton, and Stokes/Bairstow shouldn't get the volume of runs needed to cop. I bottled it basically and dutched Cook and Root at 4/5. Toss-up between the 2 imo.

Yeah, it's hard to back against Root in general isn't it? Such a talent.
Is he "due" a lean series or can we realistically expect him to just keep on batting like a god?
Wickets wise is it just a straight shootout between Anderson and Steyn? Fancy Jimmy to really take this series by the scruff of the neck, and the top of the Saffer order is in a bit of upheaval at the minute.

In the Big Bash this morning the Adelaide Strikers (ante-post joint 2nd favs to come bottom) beat defending champions and fancied side Perth Scorchers to start the season 2-0. This is another good result for our bet on Brisbane Heat to come bottom. Market is down at the moment but they were 13/8 to come bottom last night, will probably be a little bit shorter now after Adelaide's win. We're on at 9/2, so far so good. They travel to Hobart for the game tomorrow morning against the Hurricanes(8.10am start our time), Hurricanes were garbage last time out but are still 3/4 favs fior the match. Hopefully the home side can get the job done and we'll be in a good spot.
Good stuff Nelly, it's all going rather well so far from the looks of it.
Will watch it in the morning.
Thanks for the regular updates, it really helps.

4-match series means class should shine through for Root/Cook, more chance of lesser batsman beating him in a 2-match series compared to 4, vairance etc etc. Bouncy tracks over there could be a issue, he struggled on similar pitches in Australia, but he's twice the player now and I'd expect him to still churn out the runs.
bowling wise Anderson/Broad should take majority of wickets for us, Steyn/Morkel should take majority of wickets for them now Philander misses the 1st 2 tests. In the combined markets I'd give the slight edge to Steyn/Morkel, as they'll play 4 bowlers (4 1/2 if you count Duminy) whilst our wickets will be shared between 5 (Stokes being the extra all-rounder they don't have). Add in knowledge of home conditions, them being favourites so likely to take a few more wickets, I fancy their two main men more. Both sides batting line-up's are all over the place, Cook/root for us and Amla/ADBV for them will be huge wickets.

Just for info I think 2.1 on Arsenal for this would be very much on the short side. In fact there have only been 3 occasions since United v City in October 2011 that any team has been below 2.4 when playing City at home. They were 2.30 (United 12/13), 2.38 (Chelsea 13/14) and 2.15 (Chelsea 2014/2015).

My initial thought was that City looked big at 3.4 on Matchbook. For me either side is capable of cleaning up if the other side doesn't show up so I'll take the chunkier price.
Big game for Fred tonight either way, we have £100 Arsenal to win the whole thing at 13/2 if i remember correctly?

Yeh, I think this highlights why I asked for help, cheers for the input and from others. I am just going to punt on this one as i fancy arsenal and will be getting 3.3+ on it, but thanks for the historical viewpoint on why 2.1 is a bit absurd to think is value. Hardly ever touch any of the bets with the big boys playing normally as is probably evidant!
There is also a Lodbrokes offer of a £25 money back as a free bet if both teams score. That may be restricted to selected accounts as I have not had the best luck on there....

I think Arsenal win today, unless pellegrini changes the habit of a lifetime and coaches his defence.
Without kompany they are pretty poor, and arsenal have ugh movement going forward.

£50 on Thornton 3-0 4/1 coral. Price just doesn't make much sense to me. Mentioned it earlier. Starts in 30 minutes roughly.
