What a pair of performances from Barney to give the finger to the doubters

Im still a doubter. He will choke at some point, he always does.

(My irrational hatred of Barney may shien through here)

Five-time world champ RVB is a what now?

As I said, irrational hatred, although there have been games in the last year when he has been under the pump where he has just jacked it in.

I think that if Lewis or Anderson gets Grin him under pressure, he will fold.

Lucky Smith didn't get him under the cosh.

As soon as Barney started coming back into it, Smith crumbled a little bit, he didn't put his foot down again. That will come with experience, which the like of Anderson and Lewis have.

If he stands up to it then, I will give him credit Smiley

I was thinking precisely the opposite. There was lots of talk about Michael Smith 'coming of age' etc. this year but the petulance seemed alive and kicking to me. There was a leg in the third set with Barney on 121 and Smith on 310, he scores 20, 20 and then just lobs the last one. It ended up bouncing off the wire onto the floor so it didn't look quite so bad but it was the wire between the 5 and 12 beds.

Luton Town have been shocking this year with serious questions about player effort.I travelled
to Pompey last week and was surprised by the positive attitude and commitment of the players.Looking at today's line up Luton 3/1 dnb looks a reasonable price with Benson and Craig m smith up front.

Stoke to beat Pool over 2 legs @ 5/2?
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-cup/to-reach-final
That can't be right, can it?
Stoke are currently a better side than Pool imo.
Also worth a bet @ 10/1 to win imo. I really think the market is underrating Stoke.

Pre-Betfair, markets would often be wrong, but when that much money is traded backwards and forwards, it doesn't make sense that they will ever be that far wide of the mark. You might disagree with them, but that doesn't make them wrong.

If you look at racing results over the last ten years, SPs have been remarkably accurate. 3-1 shots win approx. one in four, 6-1 shots win approx. one in seven, etc.

Apparently Choral are Evens about Matt Chapman getting the ITV racing gig? At least worth an emotional cover bet if it's there. Take £50 imo.

Garde does have premier league experience and worked under the GOAT/Clown (delete as appropriate) at the Woolwich. He's made them more solid at the back and hasn't been helped by injuries and suspensions (Ayew and Westwood both out today). Agbonlahor is no loss at all. Villa fans have been waiting for him to go for years.

The issue, as you infer, is the lack of actual talent on the pitch. They simply HAVE to buy to stay up.

And the owner doesn't want to spend a penny on the club and wants to gtfo and sell up asap and get back to the USA.  Who are you going to be able to buy who will change the situation when you are 1/20 to go down?  Who is going to sign an epl contract with you of any talent?

Fringe Euro 16 squad players? Turn up, play 20 games, score 14 goals, keep the team up in the most broadcast league in the world and give yourself a chance.

What is Danny Ings doing these days? Remember when he used to play? Adebayor on loan from TopShop or wherever he's working these days?

That's why Ayew went there I expect. If they go down (and they very likely will), there will be a clause negotiated for the release.

Why would anyone go to villa? Did the Barcelona B team and Shakiri go to Stoke because they always wanted to live in Hanley?

Ings is injured, has been for a while.

Adam Armstrong is staying with Coventry for the rest of the season, so there might be some mileage in Coral's 13-2 each-way for the boot. Third the odds though. Will wait on this one for now.

Aah, screw it. Now on 15 and gonna take some stopping this kid.

It seemed like the red card killed that bet as it was very tight until then.

Of course, but he was on Liverpool's payroll for a while before that, on what has effectively been gardening leave.

I havn't seen that much of Villa this season but I have seen every minute of us and I know how utterly dreadfull we've been.

When people say we have goalscorers they really mean we have Jermaine Defoe who's previous 12 years in the Premiership are clouding peoples judgments. He's really not the same player he was. He's had 3 or 4 clear 1 on 1's this season which he either scuffed the shot or not even got a shot away. His first touch is pretty awful now and he just generally doesnt look like a threat. Coupled with a midfield who can't create anything he's really gonna struggle to score goals.

We also have no centre halfs fit. Which is a shade worse than having all of our centre half's fit.

Our record against Villa is shocking and our record in general against the bottom few teams in the last 4 years is the reason why we are always in a relegation fight. I can't remember us beating a team in the relegation zone. We seem to only beat the mid table teams like Stoke, Everton and Southampton.

Spot on as always
