^ Cheltenham Clerk of the Course would call that good to soft.

The going was described as soft on Thursday morning after rain on Wednesday, but the forecast for the next week is a dry one, with temperatures set to get into double figures by the weekend.

The horses will be racing on fresh ground and Claisse believes the going will be a blend of good to soft and soft by Tuesday.

"My hunch would be we'll commence the meeting on a mixture of good to soft and soft, but quite which one is the predominate going, I wouldn't like to hazard a guess at this stage. "

I would.

Points taken, I think its just a fundamental difference in approach between myself, Camel and Bazza. I'm unashamedly not a form guy, I'd much prefer to be backing the reversion to mean over a big data sample than the continuation of a short term trend.

Wade has looked very strong on the 180s in the PL this year but he's trying to overturn a guy in RVB that has throw 30% more 180s per leg than Wade has over a big sample size.

Likewise Anderson hasn't looked in great nick out on the circuit but in his four PL matches he has averaged 98.21 which lines up fairly closely with his TV 3-dart average in the last 15 months of 99.74

I'm certainly going to be the outlier in that I'm just betting by the numbers and not really taking into account short term factors but thats the strategy that I've chosen to go with and people can follow me in or not as they please. I'm well aware that one of the possible outcomes of my strategy is that I get my arse kicked all the way back to the drawing board but it'll be fun finding out Smiley

That's an interesting post, Dan. Like to see the occasional outlier.

Methuselah was King Outlier, no danger.

A little disappointed you did not want to discuss the A14 though. Fascinating road.

Objection!

Karabiner is anything but an occasional outlier.

I played golf at Lilleybrook today. Opposite side of the hill to the course.

Couldnt believe how solid the ground was.

If its remotely dry will be good to soft.

There's said to be some hilarious footie on telly but Cruft's is on.

No contest, I love Cruft's.

I played golf today too and absolutely ripped 'em some new ones winning a massive £7.50 in the process.

Chelt:

Following yesterday’s deluge, the ground is now soft. It could have been a lot worse as Stratford is not too far up the road and they got twice as much rainfall which has already forced the abandonment of their Monday fixture. No more rain is forecast until a few millimetres on Gold Cup day (don’t shoot the messenger!) but you can safely rule out good ground on Day 1, in the official description at least.

Wow i was at the meeting on Saturday at Stratford and the ground wasn't that soft at all.  Must have had some serious rain in the last few days to call the meeting off 4 days in advance.

I have been out and about today, London-Midlands-London, and it was quite a shock to see so much flooding, with many major roads, including the A14 closed by flooding. In fact the A14 - a very interesting road, actuslly - was closed by floods in 2 separate locations, some distance apart.
Which parts of the a14?. I grew up right on the a14 and my mum still lives there.

Fred almost won a bet on Crufts a few years back. We were pipped by a pesky poodle. Sunday is Hound and Terrier day this year, where 300 staffies stride into the NEC.

That's not counting the ones doing the agility...

It will be very noisy in the NEC.

I know it's a little after-timey  aftertiming but I actually picked the Spitz.

I do tend to be biased towards dogs that I like or have owned previously though.

Huntingdon to near Kettering.  Alconbury was flooded right by the A1, Huntingdon racecourse is very much on the softer side of good, aka very flooded.

. Trying to imagine where the a14 could be closed for flooding close to Kettering.  Used to sit on that road for hours every week when I first had a real job in the real world after uni.

Speaking of horrible things, I thought she was walking towards that strange hairless Japanese hound for a moment.

Think it was closed right to Thrapston from the A1 at one stage

edit seems it was also shut between junction 1 and 2 earlier. for more info   https://twitter.com/a14info?lang=en-gb

edit health and safety event cancelled for some half baked reason or other.

In his last 592 legs on TV Anderson has thrown 0.346 180s/leg compared to 0.262/leg over 320 for Smith and we get over even money Anderson

RVB chucked 0.286 180s/leg with a sample size of 590 legs, Wade 0.202/leg in 682 legs

Raymond always looks a bit sad, doesn't he? Cheesy

May I ask where you get these stats from? I love a bet on the darts and this site seems a goldmine!
