Ha, outrageous decision. Do they not consider the poor punters?

Never mind, we might hang on yet.

Big thanks to all those who helped us get on.

Really irritated by this when I turned the match on a little late and saw Jordan bowling the second over.
Everything I read prior to this series was that Woakes would not be rotated and the other quicks would be. Only good news is that Wood has also been rested. Let's hope for wickets for Willey/Jordan/Ali/Stokes and not so much for Rashid and Plunkett ( who surely will be rotated last game anyway?).

Instant reward as Mr Jordan opens his account for the series!

Thanks for posting these, Rich.

Just wow @ 7.87% ROI (all proofed in advance) over a sample size of 5,944 bets. Even the quibliest of quibblers can't argue with that.

Great work by the regulars here, & also by you, to pick & choose what bets to place without upsetting too many. Not easy, that. Bear in mind we occasionally do dodgy stuff by policy (Newbies, politics  etc) so all the more remarkable.

As free resources go, not bad, not bad at all.

Fantastic work.....well done everyone

I was surprised to see England above evens for the match vs Slovakia on Sunday. Any thoughts?

Could i have some views please?

WBA are 7/2 to go down

Pulis typically organises teams so effectively that gathering sufficient points to stay up is a given

this time round

a) he stated 5 players would come in on deadline day
b) only Nyom and Hal Robson one hit wonder did to follow Chadli last week
c) a couple of WBA friends i know tell me the team lacks pace and goals and are gloomy. style of play is always puritan at best and boring at worst
d) the takeover by the chinese hasn't led to the transformation hoped forand jeremy peace is still involved (and blocked some incoming transfers?)
e) Pulis could walk? sounds frustrated
f) and if he did the x points his experience are worth go with him?

relevant local press. not upbeat

http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/west-bromwich-albion-fc/2016/08/26/ally-robertson-tony-pulis-bears-brunt-of-failures-at-top/

the bottom of the table is v competitive

Moyes thinks Sunderland are in a relegation battle
Middlesbrough might not be but Burnley and Hull almost certainly will be
Palace as well, Swansea maybe
Watford look vulnerable etc etc
then an outlier such as a bournemouth

i suppose the consensus will tell me that there are going to be three worse teams than WBA, or is it an interesting relegation price?

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/relegation

I'm not as worried about Watford as I was a few weeks back.  Pereyra, Janmaat, Kennedy, Okaka and Kabul have added real depth to the squad in all areas.  Also Success is finally up and running and looks a handful.  Our horror start continues with West Ham away and Man Utd at home, but after that we start moving into easier games and I'd expect us to rise up the table.  Predict a 13th-15th place finish based on what I have seen so far.  My main concern is the manager not speaking English at the moment, although he has an excellent CV, and the continued poor form of Deeney/Ighalo.

I'm more nervous about Swanseas (my team) fate than I was a couple of weeks back, I think a lot depends on the quality of new signing of Baston who hasn't played yet due to injury.

I Guess it all depends on wether Pulis walks or not (he did at Palace in similar circumstances), really can't see them getting relegated if he doesn't.

Fao Dung, what do you think about Mazzarri next manager to leave post at 9/1? Pardew is probably the obvious choice here due to form but is only 3/1

Am in a rush but one to place for tomorrow morning, should fancy allow...

Defending champs, China are the third favourites for the Olympiad title at 11/4 best (three fat ladies), behind Russia and the USA. They have a strong, young, confident side and have no pressing distractions (unlike Mr Karjakin for Russia, who has a world championship to be focusing on).

I can understand why they're behind the Americans, too, because the US has 3 of the world's top ten.

But this event tends to favour camaraderie over pure rating and I'd happily back China at 11/4, particularly when Marathon  (whose opinion I value on chess) has them at 5/2.

Here is a nice and not that long two-part article on the event:

http://en.chessbase.com/post/begins-next-thursday-42nd-chess-olympiad-in-baku

http://en.chessbase.com/post/final-preparations-for-the-42nd-chess-olympiad-in-baku

Nothing fancy, but £20 should do the trick. Win only, please.

am having real trouble with that. No chess events listed on oddschecker

go direct to 888 and chess isn't listed. click "more sports" and the site freezes

they don't make it easy to lose money with them..will try in a bit

Thanks Tal.

Now we can expect some fun reports, and some of those crosstable things. Good fun for £20, this,

And soon, we have SCD.

Excellent. The opening ceremony is this evening. Here's the official twitter account:

https://twitter.com/bakuchessol2016?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

It is all happening in Baku, Azerbaijan. This is the birthplace of Garry Kasparov.

Thanks Tal.

I'll definitely help with updates. There won't be a crosstable this time, though, sadly, as the format isn't an all-play-all affair. There are 181 teams in the open section, representing 176 countries (the host nation is allowed 3 teams, plus there's a team each of the best blind players, the best physically disabled players and the best deaf players who aren't already playing for their countries).
