Siniakova won in China to start the season before losing a close one in the opening round in Melbourne.  Unfortunately I missed the chance yesterday and she is playing right now, currently in the third set. Will be interested to see the price when the outright market reopens.

I had the misfortune of watching this match. She took a medical timeout after losing the first set, spent the entire match complaining then got through cosily in the 3rd when Voskoboeva imploded. Certainly would look to oppose Siniakova for the tournament.

Your dedication to watching ladies tennis bowlcomp first rounds is noted!  Thanks for the heads up. I'm travelling today so was just looking at the score updates.

This is a lovely piece on Rahm from Ben Coley:

I'd take 50s and up for each of the majors. The sagarin rankings before this week had him at 11th in the world. He'll be comfortably top 10 after his victory in that strength of field.

all avoided each other

anyone fancy a bit of simple maths and give us the odds of that?

no

This is a great FA cup.  It has all the stories and shocks but the bottom line it is probably 1/5 it is a big 6 final.

It is a shame Sutton didn't draw Lincoln and have a real sweat for a non league team making the final.  That really would be awesome.

n! / r!(n - r)!

16! / 2!(16-2)! = 120 possible combos of ties

I *think* 36 of those combos are Prem vs NonPrem (8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1), so 36/120 = 30%?

Sounds high, pretty confident with 120, not so sure on the 36.

I done no maths on it but it ccan't possibly be 30% (9/4) surely?  Must be a huge price for all 8 EPL sides to dodge each other in the round of 16.  I would have guessed a 20/1 shot roughly with no calcs.

Going to do my head in this....damn you Tighty....

I think 120 combos assumes that Sutton vs Arsenal is the same as Arsenal vs Sutton where as either could come out of the hat so it's 240 permutations,

36/240 = 15%, feels better?
