It's the new regulations - did the same thing to me. Though they waited until I'd deposited for the first time in ages, had a small win and then froze the account until I'd done the docs.

I have had two or three poker/betting sites where I have had to send in documents in the last couple of weeks.   So I guess some had enough documents, some didn't, some sites are just slow, and there are some where I haven't discovered I need to send docs in yet.

Understood its regs etc, but many have asked for nothing, and all I wanted was a couple of days grace as it was a country where I could only bet with them from my current portfolio.

After 10 years plus, you would have thought that was acceptable. I could still bet etc.

Poor poor poor.

its perfectly understandable

If they don't have the right identification/verification (some firms will, some won't.I was asked by a few, by other not at all) for you they CAN'T let you bet. They'll all be audited atthe end of the process and non compliance is fines etc

How long you have been a customer is irrelevant

send them the docs and its done

Yes, yes , yes. Be compliant etc. I'm not totally stupid Shocked Shocked. No one is asking to bypass the process, ignore the request etc, but what exactly difference does a couple of days make when they have years of history and proof that I am ok?  Suspect business took a marked drop for a few days at least. Or maybe they stagger it to deflect impact? In which case my request also makes no sense in being denied.

But you are wrong because "a friends" account has money in and will let you bet, despite asking for the same info......

they don't have the proof you are ok (as unlikely as it would seem ton a long standing customer) hence requesting it

After 1st May this year they could not give you a couple of days grace even if they want it. To do so puts them in breach of new gambling commission KYC regs

It's been an almighty pain for the whole industry.

Just a bit.

The problem is that verification is now mandatory, a GC edict, but the verification process is manual & so very resource-heavy.

So they "stagger" seeking the info. Those with regularly used accounts first, then the semi-dormant & dormant accounts as & when they get re-activated by placing a bet.  Even so, the verification requests flood in at in excess of 10,000 per day for the bigger firms. Staff are being moved across from all Departments to assist, but it's a real struggle.

The Firms don't WANT to do it, but they have no choice. And on peak days it gets worse - this coming Saturday, for example, when there is the Derby, the CL Final, & the Joshua fight. That's a BIG day for the Firms by any standards, but they can't risk ignoring the GC edict.

The end result is everyone is unhappy.

It's deffo costing the Firms money & making Punters uppity, but there's no way round it except to laboriously plod on until the process is complete.

I always kept my PP/DL and POI on my desktop for slots, and just keep a PDF of my latest c/c statement for POA.

Most of them have banned me now, so more fool them.

That said, they can be a pain in the ass even when you have the docs.

One of the casinos wanted my bank statements from 3 years ago, to prove deposits from a prior debit card.

I explained the card was gone, and replaced by the current one, but they wanted the bank statement from Aug 2015 Cheesy

A district judge has ruled Boris Johnson will be summonsed to court to face accusations of misconduct in public office for comments made in the run-up to the EU referendum

What would happen if found guilty? Is party expulsion likely? Must be at least 10 people who'd go for that.

But isn't it the Gross figure ....so true?

( fair enough should have used the net figure as its misleading)
