A club the size and history of Arsenal going 8 years without a trophy is ridic.
I'm surprised arsenal maintain 60000 fans every home game.
Not sure if that is a level or serious from the Nandos lover???
Not sure if that is a level or serious from the Nandos lover??? The two trophy's every year they have the best chance of winning they don't take seriously. The two they do take seriously they are like 14/1 and 40/1 to win. Think its totally normal in those spots to go 8 years without winning a trophy.

If they are 14/1 @ 40/1, this suggests they are not good enough to compete. That's wrong for a club like arsenal.
If they don't take the other two seriously, that's wrong for arsenal.
If they go 8 years without winning a trophy. That's wrong for arsenal.

IMO it's absolutely the correct thing to do in today's game.

It depends if you are a fan and want to see your side lift trophies which don't carry the value they used to and have a day out at wembley . Most owners want the big pot of gold which is the champions league. So do the players because it means bigger salaries/bonuses for them selfishly. They are conflicting interests. That's the reality of the situation unfortunately.

I think that the demise of the European Cup-Winner's Cup has devalued the FA Cup and all of the other European countries' cups too, once upon a time that was a trophy worth qualifying for and winning.

Agreed that was the clear '2nd' european event after the European cup imo when i was growing up in the 80s/90s. I think we are going to get to a spot soon where there is a 'black hole' in the EPL to finishing 5th and/or 6th if applicable. I think it's been massively under estimated how liverpool having such a bad season last year when they finished 7th and they missed out totally on europe (ie the Europa League) has helped them this season. They are so well rested each and every week having no foreign travel to deal with. Spurs on the other hand have to build a squad to cope with the demands of the Europa league which is expensive and travelling to numerous far flung countries in Eastern Europe where travel/hotel arrangements can't always be the best unlike flying to virtually every Champions League location which are effectively capital cities of the major European countries.
I think this could trap Spurs (and other teams potentially) constantly into 5th spot with very little hope of breaking into the top 4 without having a season like Liverpool have with a much easier travel schedule to focus 100% on the EPL top 4 spot. I can see teams in 5 or 10 years 'tanking' to use an american phrase (losing on purpose towards the end of the season) to avoid the hassle of being in the Europa League which carries little financial rewards compared to the Champions League but all the hassle, if not more, of travelling and lack of rest given the benefit it has given Liverpool's season this year in order to make a proper push into the top 4.

Looks like better people than me agree with my synopsis of the season.
The whole season has panned out pretty much as forecast with us having a great chance at the start with all the other big clubs going to be in a bedding down period.
We took advantage, which was great, but just when we needed players and Management to step up we have shown our leader to be lacking in the skills to capitalise and recognise the lack of depth our squad actually had. He kept on saying we had strength in depth, which at the start of the season, I agreed with, but made no allowances for further possible injuries. Fate has conspired to prove Mr W wrong, and now its easy to see us chucking away fourth now too.
Didn't take a genius to predict all this, but looks like our man couldn't.
That's when you know its time to go.

I care not about Mr W and don't really read this thread so it may have been mentioned before, however quick question Adz, Who would you replace him with and why?

Last question from me as well. I shouldn't keep biting to this. Who would you have bought if you have AW's job a year ago who would have ACTUALLY chosen arsenal over going to Real Mardrid, Barca, Bayern, PSG, Chelsea, Man City, Man U and Liverpool? All of whom are bigger clubs than arsenal in 2014. These are the type of players you have to buy to jump from 4th to 1st or 2nd in the EPL. Which of those players (there are prob 10 in the world) would have chosen Arsenal over any of the above clubs and why, in your opinion, would they have made that choice?

I've asked these questions many times before without getting a sensible reply.
He seems to think that all you have to do is wave your chequebook in the air during any transfer window, loadsamoney style, and everything gets resolved.
