Interesting.

They are likely to finish in the 70-75 points range again this season for the 7th time in the last 9 seasons.  Only 2 exceptions were 68 points and 79 points.

Highly probable they will hit 70+ again this season and no consolation for the team who finish 5th that 73 points or more will be the highest for a 5th place team since the PL dropped to a 38 game season.

Caley likes his xG and using this metric they are statistically the worst team of the Big6 by some distance. Actually closer to Southampton in xGD terms than any of the other Big6 teams.

Still, if they beat the Stoke hoodoo tomorrow it is going to make the top 4 qualification lots of fun Smiley

One Arsene Wenger - there's only One Arsene Wenger!

Great performance by the lads today especially Holding flattening the nasty Arnautavich.

You do make me laugh Ralph.

Any "cogent" argument put up against AW you patently ignore until the next time we win, then you are full of it again.

Wonderfully balanced.

Yes. Good today. But lets remember we seem to do this year in year out. Finish strongly when half the league is on the beach.

I sighed a massive sigh the other day when Wenger was saying he didn't understand what the Director of Football role was.

Two things happened. Does our Manager of 20 years not understand a basic footballing term???!!!

Or was he being typical AW, and if he doesn't agree he ignores it and writes it off.? Proving again, he think he knows best on every possible Arsenal related subject.

Worst of all, it basically told me the way he was talking, was that he decided he was staying, and f u to the rest of us.

What a prick, regardless of us getting into CL or winning the Cup.

What actually is the reason arsenal have stagnated karabiner?
Haven't lost the dressing room like mourinho did at Chelsea last season, didn't lose their manager of however many years aswell as core players be too old like at Man U. Rest of the 'top 6' have got better.

I'm very glad to hear that I make you laugh Adz because sometimes I wonder if you actually have a sense of humour.

Perhaps you just don't get my attempts at humour or find them amusing in the same way that you seem not to get AW's either.

Some people are simply on different wavelengths - such is life.

We had the strongest squad on paper since the era of the invincibles at the start of the season with plenty of quality cover in every area.

So much so that I was tempted into points spread-bet v chelski(which looked pretty good after we thumped them 3-0) with one fortunate friend.

I'm at a bit of a loss to explain where it all went wrong and how everything has suddenly clicked again(mostly) since changing formation

Still undecided on Europa League which is starting to look inevitable now.

On one hand it's more Arsenal's level and we actually have a non zero chance at European silverware now. Man U have had a great run this season which we could feasibly try to emulate. Would be great to have a deep run in Europe for the first time in a long time. Lack of CL football may also be the catalyst needed to finally get Wenger out of the door, bringing in a new progressive manager with fresh ideas.

On the other it means Thursday nights in some faraway hellholes then league games on the weekend. Very low chance now that Sanchez/Ozil/any top players are going to want to stay or join a team which is now officially going backwards, steepening the slope more. Lack of CL money could also equal less spending in any case.

Seems pretty 50:50 how positive finishing in 5th place may be for Arsenal.

this may just be agent talk, i know his agents are trying to get him the move this summer (allegedly promised on signing new deal post league win, if we didn't finish top 4) and he himself has hinted at a London club

"Arsenal are set to pay the £40m for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez which was already put in place for him to move this summer."

i'd be happy with the price as a leicester fan, what would Arsenal fans think?

£40M sounds a little optimistic from the Leicester side but I think he'd be a useful addition as a wide playmaker a la Robert Pires.

All this talk about Arsenal standing still this season and we already have 71 points which equals last season's total with two games still to play despite a couple of horrendous runs.

the next step has to be to beat top 4 sides (occasionally then..) consistently? no sign of that this season apart from very early on

looking from the outside the frustration seems to be crumpling in the big games and yet often beating the non top 6 pretty easily, hence the "flat track bully" ideas.

that might be solved with the recruitment of some more steel/leaders etc?
