My youngest daughter Holly just had trials for Birmingham City Ladies Centre of Excellence and secured a place in the squad. Here she is with Birmingham City and England player Karen Carney and the Women's FA Cup.

VERY PROUD DAD Smiley

After a successful season playing in the BCLFC Under 11's, Holly has just been awarded a contract for the Under 13's squad for next season.

I am so proud of her Smiley

terrific

no need to answer if its tricky, but in the Ladies game what does a youth contract look like?

what does it specify and what does it commit your daughter to?

(my lad is at Luton, and currently deciding not to give up sixth form to do a youth contract at 16-17yo, with part-time schooling. His choice)

To be honest I didn't read the contract! However, at this age there is certainly no requirement for time out of school. It's just training for 4-5 hours per week (2 evenings), matches at the weekend and following a physical fitness programme. There is also a requirement that she cannot play for any other teams.

well done! you must be very proud indeed. Womens footy is such an excellent sport to get into, my wife played for 20 years and it took her around the globe, paid for her education, made he a real team player in life and opened up so many opportinies for her. Lets hope she enjoys it half as much as my wife did.

haven't been on this thread in a while and just catching up on the last few months worth - great stuff, congrats to all!

time for my own mummy brag now!

As I think I've probably mentioned before, my ten year old, Hannah, has a real talent for writing, which she loves. Stories are her main thing, but recently pupils from her school took part in a national poetry competition for young writers. Hannah's was among those entries chosen as winners for inclusion in a collection of poems to be published in the Summer.  Super proud Smiley
