Yesterday's bunch actually seemed decent compared to what we've had in previous weeks.
No doubt the Skills Test tonight will bring them crashing down again.
And yes, serve the woman first ffs. You are professionals. You should know this!
Chefs know fk all about serving people in a restaurant, it wouldn't even occur to them.
any decent chef knows this.
On a food related tangent, there are some awesome little clips called Munchies, by Vice guide, where they take a rated restaurant and go out for dinner/drinks with the owners and some friends to their own personal favourite places in the city where there restaurant is. Really interesting. Must be so sick to go out drinking, then come home and make amazing home made pizza
http://www.vice.com/munchies
Mate I come from a family that has a bunch of restaurants, when I was younger I worked in some of Londons top hotels, trust me if they have only ever worked in the kitchen and never front of house it wouldn't even occur to most of them. All they focus on is getting good food on the plate nothing else.
i agree, my mate was sous chef at a 2 * Michelin restaurant and trained in some of the best restaurants in the world and and would not know how to lay the cutlery out.
But he won his heat on junior Masterchef cooking pigeon

A good chef cares about the food from the source to the guest, so should most definitely know how it is served!
That being said, the 'ladies first' rule only applies to humans and NOT restaurant critics

ffs some of these people claim to be head chefs with years of experience. Quite clearly they can't use anything other than a microwave.

I know having Monica standing over you is quite daunting but 0/4 managed to make the souffle!
I especially laughed at the woman trying to make a souffle pancake.

i'd love to see you bitches doing an invention test with Monica standing over you.
I absolutely rofled at Gregs noises as she was coating her example dish in chocolate, could be added to the masterchef 'ooooh matron' clips posted previously. Looked sooooo nice.

Apologies, my earlier post wasn't in blue. I have since corrected it.
From the preview tonight's skills test looks tricky. God knows what it was. I can understand being able to make a souffle should be considered standard but there is the odd thing they throw up where you can't help but think they're being difficult for the sake of it.

oh yeah totally, but I want to see failure and them struggling, not just top quality food. I want to feel better about the exquisite techniques I use not to burn myself as I upend the microwave safe plastic tub.
Sorry if I've quoted a non blue post.

take a look at Jamie Oliver's 15 minute meals mate. Not really ideal for mid grind but gotta be a decent idea for before or after a session.

I especially laughed at the woman trying to make a souffle pancake.
She actually made a very easy mistake when under pressure.
Basically she got confused between a crepe souffle and a souffle omelette!
I could see myself doing that tbh, but I would have stopped well before she did to start again!
