I'm getting a bit of stick ATM for being a bit too outspoken with some, well, controversial views, namely:

  • Bob Dylan - while having a fantastic talent for writing songs has a voice like a goose farting in the fog - his songs are best as covers from people who can sing.
  • The Beatles were just another white boys rip off of black music in their day, & only started being creative when they hit the drugs
  • Queen - while obviously talented were too theatrical & just don't rock my boat

So what's your musical heresy?

Too many, I don't even know where to start tbh but I'll throw the Rolling Stones out there as a teaser.  Shocked

David Bowie

Had a discussion about Bowie with someone that didn't like him and I defended him as I thought that he was ahead of his time and a great artist.  Since then though, I can't stand listening to him, not sure what happened to me that night....

A hell of a lot do & I get the 'he's a performer/does a great show' argument but so's a trained seal - doesn't make them an 'artist'.

Agree on Elvis.

Queen, however, are the greatest band ever

Bob Dylan and U2 for me, to me they have written about 5 songs and just randomly release a diff version of one of them.

David Bowie

So wrong.  Of course the post 80s stuff was all terrible, but the early stuff is fantastic for its time.  The Beatles is so clearly wrong too.

My Bloody Valentine are tough to like.  I have Loveless but it is very hard work.

Primal Scream are right up there for jumping on the indie dance bandwagon and spending the next 20 years pretending it was all their idea.
