Sorry Keith, but you've been around the block too many times to allow yourself to be put in the position where you are vulnerable to a bad ruling.
When the 5x$500 chips get thrown in, you should clarify with the dealer if there is any action on you before attempting to make any further action yourself. You aren't giving away your hand strength by showing an eagerness to 4bet or otherwise and you don't give the other guy a chance to wheedle out of it.
Any time there is ambiguity ( a "possible" all in that isn't clear, a "possible" re-raise or whatever) just ask the dealer "what's the action to me?"
I have seen guys ask the dealer "is he all in" and the dealer only hear the "all-in" bit and the enquirer was held to be all in
Whilst you got a bad ruling, you should have more than enough miles on the clock to swerve the situation. "What's the action to me?" would have got you an "there is no action sir, he called and closed the betting" (in which case you could question the validity of that) or an "I have taken that as a legal raise to 2800" and you can wait for the guy to object/get a ruling/make good on the bet before popping it again.
In my limited experience, the dealers haven't been wonderfully enthusiastic or vocal most of the time (with a lot of variance tbf to the best dealers) but protect yourself at all times...

think i would play it as keef did, think u give away your strength if u ask what's the action on me, coz if some dopey dealer says it's a call and u start through gritted teeth saying it fkin isn't u know, it soon becomes obv what u want. Also, there would be no action on u if it's taken as a call, he would get some change and we'd see a flop. Mw you're scrambling round shouting oi, is that not a raise, while trying not to look strong. Most of the dopey Vegas dealers just do with the flow, so if u take over and say reraise they'll just let u get on with it, thinking to themselves I was gonna take that as a call but I see what u mean, get on with it then. When u know what the rule is it's best to play it cool, just seems u got one of the idiot floormen, they have a right mixture. I remember JP going mental at one last yr, he doesn't lose his cool often but it was a horrible ruling with like 50 left in the main event...he got the guy in the end tho

If I thought it was a borderline decision, I might have said something.
I thought there was zero chance the floor would consider it a call.
That's why I kept my mouth zipped.
I could have argued after he made the decision, but these Vegas floor guys are so macho, they would just see it as a challenge to their authority and start a slanging match.
I think keeping quiet was the best move in this spot.

Busto in 199th for $3500.
Never really had much more than 20 bbs all day and it was pushbot mode pretty much from the off.
Every time I got to the 6-8 bb level I found a double up.
After the 4th one I had 15 bbs at 1000-2000/300.
Cutoff pushed and I called otb with AJ. He had 77.
I flopped an ace, he turned a 7.
Painful way for it to end, but not unhappy as I was probably a slight dog to cash at the start of play today.
Onto the next one!

You will not think so, but a cash right out of the traps looks like a good start to me, most would take that, or swap with you, Keith.
Onwards & upwards.
Is the $1,500 Shootout next?

Amazing how quick the mood in Vegas can change. From being super positive and on top of the world, I am now snappy and grumpy.
All because of one incompetent floorman at a poker tournament.
This thread needs some laughs
Absolute classic. I laughed without even needing to watch it

Had another pretty comedy ruling in a sat for the heads up. Blinds 200/400 I accidentally only put out 200 for the BB. Villain throws out 400 thinking he's minraising and the floor rules that we're going to play this hand out as 100/200 rather than it going as a call.
