After a brief hiatus over the festive season it's back to business on the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) with the £700+£70 Edinburgh Main Event starting today.
The first of two opening flights starts at noon with a second following at the same time tomorrow. The latest leg in the Scottish capital is shaping up to be massive with PokerStars confirming that over 500 players had registered in advance.
Fintan Gavin won the UKIPT's last visit to Edinburgh, pocketing £61,500 after outlasting a 519-runner field in August 2011.
If you play, please post on this thread how you get on, and I'll put up the PS blog chip counts every day

For anyone playing Circus are offering free taxis from venue to the casino, if you want to play cash. Call Capital Cars on 0131 777 7777 and quote UKIPT. You could probably park around there and its a free lift back! Hopefully this is not spam, just thought it would be good for players as no cash on site.

Really enjoying the UKIPT Edinburgh, ran into Liam and pleased to see he is chip leader, one of my mates was chip leader in Newcastle, Tim Timotheou, and it all went wrong day 2 for him and didn't even cash, but knowing Liam a little I'm sure that he will use this strong position wisely. I went up to 32.5k and was building steadily up until level 6, then had a few car crashes dropped backed to my starting stack and had a mini recovery last few hands to finish on 19k, with blinds 400/800 this is still workable. Played 3 sides so far having landed on Weds night... £110 6 max Weds busto mid way thru KQ suited vs A5 suited to a serial raiser, but chopped the £55 turbo that night. Ran deep last night in the £110 turbo out 16th from 113 with 12 paid lost another 60/40, but another friend Greg Barbour (from Fyfe - blue blooder) won the £55 turbo on chip count for £1k, I backed a few players in the ME and will be watching Dominic Kats progress today, then playing the £110 win the button event at 8pm tonight. Good to see all the regular dealers including Dena Hassan up here and some of the DTD TDs as well as Rob and Alex!

Yong,Kimber and Dom Kay flying.
Yong played like a man without a care in the world today and had the very clear intention of having a big stack or no stack. He managed the former, just missing out on the chip lead. He terrorised his table getting opponents off big hands and also donated at times, he said. Kimber's stack rose steadily today. He busted short stacks and managed to flop a set to win a bigger pot off the table "live wire" as he described him. Williams managed to win a flip to bust the talented Ben Jenkins and cracked aces with a flush draw. Kay managed to crack kings with queen-jack and was also helped when he flopped a full house and watched an opponent donate to him with queen-high.
