Sat with the Rastafish tonight and apart from occasionally watching a film on his iPad he was his usual Funtime Guy. Pretty impressed with how he took flopping a set of 5's and coming up a flopped set of kings.

Devilfish probably would have done it for free Tony.

Yes, we were offered him, but we declined. He was not exactly what we wanted, he did not meet the required criteria.
lol. Oh ok, granted he is not in vogue especially amongst younger poker players.  You of all people especially know that its a tough gig to attract wider audiences to minority/specialist sports.

Love em or hate em, you have to admire what Matchroom and the Hearns have done for darts/pool/fishing/ping pong etc.

It's been really fun so far, not deadly serious but very good fun

only bad point for me is the onscreen graphics are driving me mad, the 4 colour decks are annoying and the very fast/large graphics are too much, other than that really enjoyable

The Show is specifically aimed at those who currently do NOT play poker.

Incidentally I think that would work much better than digging up sports stars from the grave who just sit there check folding. Get people who can play and want to play. Maybe they can keep their profits like that other poker show (but don't do it like that other poker show which is horrible).

A "win your seat to the next series" promotion on the online site would be nice I agree, probably would have needed to plug it on air whilst this series is running though so maybe too late for that
But that misses the point, Karl - the Series was not commissioned to squeeze MPU from the existing player-base, that is already done in many other ways, including, & uniquely for a UK facing poker site, a 24/7 dedicated TV Channel.

This was specifically aimed at attracting new players, & was most definitely not aimed at the existing player-base. You have to do one or the other, mixing & matching dilutes the strength of the message.

Badly worded maybe, I was meaning as an extra incentive for (new) viewers to check out the online site for a chance to appear on the next series

Ahh, I see - yes, fair point, my apologies.

I'll reply to your e-Mail later today, or in the morning. Most interesting, you'll have to forgive me if I ramble on rather too much when I reply, I found the whole subject utterly fascinating, & right up my street.

Was fun to watch.

Tbf having watched it, this was one of stapes worst outings imo. He seemed a little out of his comfort zone, maybe it is because I know he dislikes sport and would know absolutely nothing about british sport.

Partly, maybe, but he was hampered by the edict that we specifically wanted the commentators NOT to talk over the Table Banter, & with that crowd at the Table, it was hard to find the free space, so Stapes was limited to short one-liners.

I bumped into him & Mr Hartigan yesterday, I have to say, Stapes is really quite a likeable character, a little abrasive perhaps, but very sharp. Stapes is currently London-based. Hartigan, of course, just drones on about filmy stuff.

Tonight, James Haskell & Mick Fitzgerald join the Table.

James Haskell gave Rob Yong some verbals, because Rob had a big stack of purples. (£100's). Lord Chaning interjected, "don't worry, he always starts with a big stack".

I think it's probably tradition more than anything else?  There are good reasons to have 4-colour decks (imo), for example, it would make it easier to see the suits of the cards for some people from the far end of the table.  I don't understand why a lot of places use cards with a very small font for the numbers/letters in the corners and really noticed the difference when I got back from Vegas and went back to DTD. The numbers and letters on the cards were enormous in comparison, and much easier to read.
