I see Noel Chance has given up the ghost at last and packed it in.

I would love to know what this guy did to upset the establishment. Won two Gold Cup and a Tingle Creek, yet struggled for owners for years. I have spoken to him a couple of time over the years. Nothing in depth, but always seemed a really nice fella, and approachable. He can obviously train too.

Sad when you see some people have fortunes thrown at them and they do nothing significant, and here is a real horseman, unable to get his rewards.

Sad day

Monday 27th May

4 bets

2.50 Redcar 1pt win Halfwaytocootehill 13-2 (2 firms)

a lovely bank holiday maiden handicap, i do not like the bell horse which looks like being favourite looks devoid of a trip to me. The selection ran well last time retains the tongue tie and has just as good as form with potentially more to come.

5.05 Redcar 1pt win Summerlea 16-1 general (18-1 with sportingbet if you can)

The market leaders are the usually suspects for the class 6 northern handicaps. Another patrick holmes trained animal (gulp) but they are still running above market expectation. Ran well under a very inexperienced rider last time after a long break on that cant beat the second favourite here but the jockey change bridges that gap a bit more for me. On back form is well handicapped to go close and this is by far the weaker division of this.

5.00 Windsor 1pt win Al Emirati 14-1 general (again sbet 16-1 if you can)

This is purely a stats bet, the sire is good on turf and awful on the all weather. That goes a fair way to explaining the run on first start for Botti last time, take that away and i feel you can then the horse would be around 8/10-1. Tough little race but overpriced if the last run was as i hope it was.

5.30 Windsor 2pts win Break Rank 13-2 (two firms)

Circled the whole field last time on british debut and was drawn 13 at chester. Covered a lot more ground than most that day and tired late after the massive middle effort. I am surprised and happy dropped a 1lb for that run which is very fair. Has potential to be better handicapped than this, a few dangers but i dont feel they have a few lbs in hand like this one could.

good luck today

3.35 Leicester. Reset City

Just been moved to Johnston. Ran 5 days ago and came second. Roger wouldn't let any of his horses run again that soon unless the Trainer had given him more than just a bit of encouragement to do so. Its a maiden after 16 goes, but has hit the woodwork often enough to think its genuine, but based on this I think a decent ew bet is the sensible option if you play.

shocking ride from norton - no idea why johnston uses him - horse isnt a front runner but he tries to get to the front but can't get there.

Yes, not had call yet, but stuck in no mans land like that, rarely does the job. Stayed on again once swallowed by pack, which is most annoying.

as spreadsheet shows hardly flying along at present

the % price column is the difference between price taken and sp

from 23 bets 5 have returned the same price 3 have drifted and 15 have shortened (some quite a bit)

i have been happy with most of the bets made so far
