Thay always used to call open ditches "regulations" in Ireland for some reason that nobody could ever explain to me but suddenly a couple of years ago the term appears to have ceased to exist.
Anyone care to enlighten me?
Because under the regulations for steeplechases there had to be an open ditch fence?

I assume this is right.

Yes, the Irish call them "Regulation". Meaning at least two have to be taken in a race. But a lot of regulations are filled in with a inviting filling of spruce, but by jaysis if you get dem wrong loike....

It is a big money sport for bookmakers, but for gaffs like Taunton, they are little more than Point to Point tracks.
The staff are prob paid peanuts and thats why you have idiots making decisions.

The first two races I could live with. Jockeys not happy, jockeys happy etc.
But when they miss 4 hurdles down the back for sun when it is past sun down is worthy of job losses.

Many Happy Returns to all of the horses in training.

Love this thread, many thanks to all who contribute to it. I'm just a "taker" here, but love the thread.
To celebrate NYD, I'm going to back those three, then watch the last 2 on Ch 4 Racing.
Might even add a "Patent". Oohhh.

Extraordinary finish by Sybarite there, way off the pace 2 out, and so nearly made the frame.

Frustrating horse, as it seems to only like running the last few furlongs...

Yep, if it's frustrating from a betting angle, the trainer must be pulling his hair out.
Was quite pleased with Pigeon Island's run, maybe we'll get to recoup some losses when he gets the decent ground I think he needs.

That's a very nice voucher to have adz, was at Musselburgh today and watched the ror race in tote hall. Think every one was on the Henderson horse apart from me and my mate, at the top of the hill my mate says ror knows his way home from here, I said get the beers up .
