Think it was mentioned ITT that he is sometimes spotted playing at one of the poker clubs on the outskirts of London.

He used to run Big Slick in Croydon, but pretty sure someone else took it over, though I moved away. Surprised he is making enough through poker to avoid paying maintenance. I assumed he wasn't really playing much when he had Big Slick, and if he wa giving up playing to run a poker club, back then, you'd think he'd really struggle now?

I remember when my old man took me to the Rendezvous in Brighton for my first >100 tourney, and Tony Hakki was playing it. There were a bunch of them all sponsored by 'Big Slick' or similar, and I was just trying to remember the names with the old man then.
Tony Hakki
Mick Clark
John Falconer
Think there were a couple others, but neither of us could remember them.
Used to love the Rendezvous festivals, so easy to drive up on a Thursday and just plot up in the Seattle? hotel for a long weekend.

Better post this for those not aware why he was mentioned
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/10792772/Poker-player-wins-legal-battle-to-not-support-children-from-winnings.html
Could be just a mad coincidence mind.
Going to have to dust off my job seekers allowance claim, always figured it would be very wrong to claim. Bit like dodging child maintenance.

Great news going forward for anyone worried about poker being taxed as a source of income.

Not really - it is precisely because poker isn't taxable income that he has won the case, not the other way. And because he obviously appears to be a dead beat and leaves the state to support his family, there is more chance that some bright spark in the treasury has a think about a way to tax winners without affording tax relief to losers.

I have never really understood why the revenue doesn't think they can do this. The IRS manage to do it fine in the States. All that said would be nice to see this guy in some future busto posts as he is clearly a scumbag.

Not to take issue with you Mr Red because for all I know you could well be right, but can I ask why he's clearly a scumbag?
