Kate Szeremeta.

Woof!

She attempted to sue Vicky Coren for libel.

Vicky wrote in her book that Kate had a tattoo of Stephen Fry and this was incorrect.

It was Ben Elton.

Kate threatened legal action.

Vicky's publishers made the change for the softback version. IIRC

Details here: http://www.victoriacoren.com/main/blog/archive/clarific

Ridiculous, much?

Good Lord.

As an exercise in reading between the lines, Vicky's fulsome "apology" had me in bits.

There must, presumably, have been some history.

The Szeremeta's like a bit of legal action.

I posted a question on my blog a few years ago.. "Why is the holding company which owns Poker Europa, a magazine concerned with European poker issues, written by Europeans, read by Europeans based in the Carribean?"

And someone in the comments replied "Tax Dodge".

Nic threatened to sue me.

Victoria has more class than me ofc.

I'd have entirely rewritten the paperback version so that it was only these words in large bold typeface repeated:

'Get a hold of yourself man'

Could you imagine getting intimate with a young lady for the first time, and just as the moment is peaking to a crescendo..

You notice she has a tattoo of Ben Elton on her hip.

I would think that might dampen your ardour somewhat

Yes yes, perfectly awful.

I can imagine worse, though. In the "Comments" under that apology on Miss Coren's Blog, I spotted this.....

You have to feel a little bit sorry for Kate in all this.

She has every reason to be highly embarrassed about a Ben Elton tattoo, wherever it is placed.

I know I’m highly ashamed of the twin tattoos of Jim Davidson and Stan Boardman on my buttocks.

I wonder what sort of person would write that, or even have such tattoos?

I had totally forgotten about that comment!

I know it's rude to laugh at your own jokes, but that's pretty funny even if I say so my myself.

Haha, that is funny.

Although where else to have a tattoo of Jim Davidson than on an arse? Other than maybe a right tit?

Pokerineurope.com and Poker Europa magazine.

For that matter, Nic Szermeta too.

Weird you mention Nic Szermeta, I spotted his name on the UKIPT @ DTD Chip counts yesterday. Not seen him for a good few years.

Wiki tells me he is over 70 now, good Lord.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nic_Szeremeta

Back in the day, PokerEuropa Magazine was a must read for most of us in poker. It was weird, a single magazine printed in 3 or 4 different languages. It had a "Results Section" at the back, too, which we all (or many of us) scoured avidly.

I used to write Tourney Reports for them, think I got £150 a whack, then someone - still in poker - pulled a bit of a stroke on me, by writing Tourney Reports for Poker Europa simply from reading blonde Live Updates, hr never even attended the Events, lol.

It became a quite busy Online Site & Forum later, but it sort of fell behind the times I think.

I seem to recall that Nic was in partnership with Jon Shoreman, who I believe still plays Mixed Cash Games at The Vic.

I had a few business dealings with Jon. Sharp cookie, I'd rather be on his side than against him.

He's still playing?

Wow, whoever said there's no value in poker tournaments any more was lying.

I just had a look, he played UKIPT Day 1c, & survived the day.

Nic Szeremeta    12    5    31900

I do recall he was quite handy at 7 card Stud & the like, pretty sure he won the only Stud Tourney ever run @ DTD - in fact, I am pretty sure he sponsored it.

My prediction of his exit from this tournament..

He'll survive to within 80 of the money.

He'll have 6 big blinds left when he gets it all in with AQ suited against a 22 year old hoodie wearing internet genius with 120 bbs who holds K9 offsuit.

9 on the turn, exit Nic muttering about how unlucky he was.

No details of the hand but he finished 2 off the money. Careful he don't threaten legal action for getting that wrong Keef.

Shame.

The under/over for the amount of big blinds he had left when going all in is 2.2

Chris Bruce

Had a chat with Chris at DTD last week. He is not playing as much poker as he used to and is currently
enjoying the high life travelling around the country with a group of lads who trade on betfair in play at the
racecourse to gain an advantage over the mug punter sitting at home watching the racing on a 5- 10 second delay.

I am a fan of Ben Elton, his might sound a little specialist but do you have this girls address?
